I lament that I just discovered Twisted Gingers now...they 've been open for 4 years! Really great menu of drafts and they do football style cheese pizza with those thin and addictive slices where you can house the whole pie yourself!!
Five stars for the fantastic beers and five stars for the epic pizzas, if only I could give it that perfect ten!Residing within a 100+-year-old bar space on an unassuming Roxyunk residential space, Twisted Gingers is the perfect neighborhood brewery that is more than worth trekking up and down those steep Manayunk Roxborough hills to get to. And when you imbibe upon those good brews and savor your first bite slice of pizza, you'll understand why it survived so well despite opening in the thick of that pandemic timeline.Whether it's been coming in to grab a couple four four-packs on the go, to enjoy a pizza dinner among friends, or to take in some beer flights and a musical performance, I've always felt like I was being welcomed to the neighborhood when setting foot within. Like most breweries these days TG does have a few IPAs on the menu. But I definitely appreciate that their standards are a satisfying blond ale, a strong Belgian tripel, and a hard ginger beer. They also have a regular selection of rotating new-release beers that play well to the seasons. You know that you're having a good brewhouse pizza when it comes with an ale-infused crust! But that's the only gimmicky thing you get from these rustic pizzas, and it's pretty impressive seeing how they reconfigured the taproom kitchen to be able to dish out these 14 pies of glory! Favorites of mine include the Friend From Brussels with its brussel sprout shavings, bacon, mozzarella, and asiago; and the spicy Philly Popper with panko-crusted jalapeno peppers, bacon, cheddar, mozzarella, Mike's hot honey, and a Philly cream cheese drizzle.Toss in regular events like a trivia night and live music nights, and there's plenty to enjoy.
John is the best! So knowledgeable about beer and the pizza is fantastic! 10 out of 10 would would recommend!
Came in here for the third time and was very satisfied. Tasting room is well decorated and laid out (loved the ginger hall of fame wall). The beer was also tasty (had the porch fest and another that I forgot the name of). We also finally got to try the pizza (pepperoni with hot honey) which was outstanding. We’d love to return but we’re told our toddlers would have to remain seated at all times. If you are childless or have children that love sitting still you’ll love this place. I look forward to returning without kids in the future.
Ordered a pizza thru Grubhub and it was delivered in 20 minutes. I was amazed at first at how quick the delivery was until I opened the box. The Friend from Brussels pizza appeared and tasted about 3 hours old. It was completely cold and the saddest looking pizza I have ever seen, such a disgrace. I’ve ordered pizza from there before and I don’t know what happened this time, usually they’re pretty good
