Feedback gevenDropped by The Downeast Beer Factory to look into some planned entertainment and had lunch. Wow, Great food and service. The wings were tasty and their dipping sauce was great as well. The place looks great inside. Beautiful lighting and lots of atmosphere. I cant wait for the entertainment to start on the stage in the pub. The only reason I didnt give a five star rating was that I only had a snack and not a full meal. Im sure next time they'll get the other star! I'm sure they will do a fabulous buisness as the word gets out.M.A. Fall River, NS.
After driving by this restaurant many times (and mostly seeing empty parking lot), our family felt bad for this local business, and decided to give it a try. Now we know why the parking lot is so empty. On entering, the atmosphere was nice and there were a few other tables (3, plus two guys at the bar). We had three adults and a child, so the hostess told us she'd bring back a kid's menu. 10 minutes later, we flagged her down to get the kid's menu. No one had taken our drink order. While we waited, we had AMPLE time to look at the menu, and we were really hopeful! The entrees seemed to be freshly-prepared, with unique twists on old favorites and some new ones that were really intriguing. I had a hard time choosing between lobster salad and seafood burger. The kid's "menu" (there wasn't one) was our first disappointment. Our daughter could choose chicken fingers or grilled cheese. :(About 15 minutes after we sat down we got our drinks and ordered nachos. About 15 minutes later (half hour after we got there), we saw them sitting on the heat lamp in the kitchen, wondering if they were ours. 10 minutes after THAT, we flagged down the other server to ask if the nachos sitting there getting cold were for us. She gave them to us and left. At this point we had not seen our server for 25 minutes, and had still not ordered our entrees! Poor, poor, poor. When we finally flagged her down and asked if we could order our food she did apologize, and said they were "short-staffed". Two servers for 4 tables = short-staffed? It gets worse. The appetizer (nachos for $17) consisted of a platter of store bought tortilla chips ("hand-cut tostada chips" - haha!) with a SMALL handful of shredded cheese, an even SMALLER handful of toppings and one bowl mixed with half sour cream and half store-bought salsa. Ew!!! We asked our server if this was typical for their "kitchen party nachos", and she hemmed and hawed and said she'd get back to us. No more heard. We were charged full price. (Seriously - do not order these!!)We asked how long entrees would take, since the nachos took so long, and she said 10-15 minutes. In about 20 minutes, the meals appeared under the heat lamps. We watched them sit there getting gross for 15 MINUTES when she finally decided to bring them to us. During that time we had to clear our own table, because she had never come back to check on us. Honestly - what are they doing?!?! She had - at BEST - 2 other tables! From the time we got there til we had our food was 75 minutes. 25 of that our food sat ready and un-served. Expectedly, it was all cold. :( I had ordered the seafood burger beach something) which came with 3 miniscule pieces of seafood, completely hidden in some kind of congealed mess of tasteless cheese sauce on top of a burger that had sat under the heat lamp so long it was like molded sawdust. The fries were, indeed, hand cut, but so limp and soggy that I didn't eat more than 2. My daughter's grilled cheese was a processed cheese slice! For dessert, so got two cookies, hard as rocks. They were chocolate chip (her fave) but she only ate two tiny bites of one of them and the rest got chucked. I felt worse for my mom. She had ordered the fish and chips, and we all know how awesome fried fish is after 15 minutes under a heat lamp. (/gagging)In summation, these people are in the wrong business. As others suggested, they need to just shut it down and call it a day.
The food was average, but the service was really slow. Went for lunch with a co-worker, and waited almost 15 minutes to get drinks and place our order. Then waited awhile for our order, so we had to ask for our bill at the same time. Had to rush back to work. this would have been fine if we had all kinds of time, and if the place had been busy.
One of the worst experiences ever. Poor waitress had to serve this food. Group of 10, everyone same comments. Time to close the doors and stick to making draft!Fish and chips...bad. Stir fry worse. Fish burger worse again. Wings. We'll picture is worth 1000 words.
Went for lunch today with a large group from work for a co-worker's retirement lunch (she picked the location). First thing we noticed was the stench of brewing beer. If it wasn't for the group I was with I would have turned around and walked out. Everyone around me was talking about the smell and how bad it was. When we were seated we were told that they didn't have enough menus for everyone. While our server was friendly we had to ask after nearly 30 minutes to have our food orders taken. During the ordering process the POS system went down and all orders had to be taken by hand. The first 3 people to order had their order come out last. There weren't that many people other than our group. When my food came out (3rd person to be served) I was totally disappointed. I ordered the 1 piece fish and chips. The fish was some kind of fish triangle. The fries came in a cup. The food wasn't hot. I ate 4 or 5 fries before I felt something crunch between my teeth. I thought it was just a burnt fry but when I spit it out and looked at it I discovered it was actually 3 small rocks. (See photo) I didn't finish the fries. The server took a percentage off the bill. No apology. In talking to a number of people from our group they were very disappointed with their meals.
