Lonestar Bbq - Dayton

I've been here before and LOVED it.(Brought friends who were looking for catered BBQ. Hubs is a Texan, so we loved this place from the get go. We all ordered brisket, which was a mistake. We should've split the order with brisket and chicken, and it might have saved the night. The brisket was easily 70% fat. I've eaten BBQ from coast to coast, and this was the fattiest brisket I've ever seen. We told our server, and there were no explanations or apologies... she just cleared out 4 plates full of fat and shrugged. This place is very popular with locals , and has no air conditioning, so beware of coming during the summer months. It was a hot sweaty fatty dinner. If you love fatty brisket, the taste is delicious. The BBQ sauce is also very tasty.

We really wanted to like this place... small, BBQ, close to home, potential to hire as caterer. Service was nice, but the brisket was the fattiest we have ever had (for all four of us). It was so fatty that we would not have served it. We told our server. She apologized. We hoped the chef would make an appearance and apologize. Nope. Won't be going back. Too bad.

Small but mighty menu. Lonestar does BBQ right. (Not talking about food from a grill here. The meat is perfectly smoked and paired with a Texas style sauce. High value for the price. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $10–20
