Feedback gevenMy wife and I visited this restaurant tonight and ordered the vegetarian Burrito and Enchiladas from their vegetarian menu. We were surprised to find that the dishes did not come with rice or refried beans listed on the menu, so we assumed they were free from animal products. We simply asked for no cheese or sour cream to be added to our food. However, upon receiving my burrito, I discovered it contained refried beans, which were not mentioned in the menu description. I stopped eating until the waitress brought my wife's food to the table. We then noticed that her dish also contained baked beans and rice, so we asked the waitress to confirm that they were free from animal products. Unfortunately, we were informed that the refried beans contained pork and the rice was cooked in chicken broth. The waitress mentioned that they were not aware of all the details regarding vegetarian options. While we understand this is not entirely their fault, the management should educate their staff on how to handle food restrictions and ensure menu items are accurately labeled as vegetarian. Our meals were not only not vegan, but they were also not vegetarian despite being listed as such. I even became ill after our visit. This restaurant should not be advertised as vegetarian-friendly on Happy Cow, as we do not want others to have a similar experience.
When my burrito arrived, I took a bite and realized it contained fried beans, even though they were not mentioned in the menu description. I stopped eating and waited for the waitress to return with my wife's meal. We both noticed that her enchiladas also had cheese and sour cream on top, so we asked to confirm that these ingredients were not derived from animals. Unfortunately, the waitress informed us that the fried beans contained lard and the broth used in the enchiladas contained turkey. She mentioned that the staff was not fully informed about vegetarian options. We made it clear that our meals needed to be vegetarian. While it was not the waitress's fault for the misunderstanding, the management should ensure that employees are educated on how to accommodate dietary restrictions accurately. The menu items should also be labeled correctly as vegetarian. Both of our meals not only were not vegan, they were not vegetarian at all, despite being labeled as such. I became ill shortly after dining here. This restaurant should not be advertised as vegetarian-friendly on HappyCow; I hope others do not have a similar experience.
