We were a large party attending the whiskey festival that day, but despite not causing any disturbances, we were asked to leave for allegedly being in the bar for too long. Our group arrived in multiple waves, with the last group arriving around 4:30-5 and being asked to leave at 7:30-8. This was very disappointing after spending a significant amount of money at the establishment. We will not be returning to this restaurant and do not recommend it to others unless they enjoy being treated poorly. The staff here could benefit from improved customer service training.
This restaurant lives up to its name as a tavern! It is fantastic with its old school decor and impressive selection of beers on tap. The staff is friendly and it is conveniently located just a few blocks away from Principal Park.
Without a doubt, this bar in Des Moines is one of the most relaxed. Ryan, our bartender, was fantastic - he's a cool guy, very friendly and welcoming, and he makes the most amazing Green tea shots ever! This is a must-visit spot for a great time.
The best place in Des Moines for comfort food. The ambience can best be described as 1970's bowling alley chic. Broasted chicken, tator tots, fried pickles and all your childhood favorites if you grew up in the 60's and 70's. The service was friendly and prompt. A great place if you are feeling nostalgic for the simpler times of the 70's.
The chicken definitely lives up to its reputation as the best. Have never tasted better. Meatloaf is good too! 20 beers on tap. Made a special stop here on our cross country trip to see if my accidental visit two years ago was worth the stop. It is.
