Scheune Cafe - Dresden

The Scheune is in the middle of the hip night scene of Dresden Neustadt. The place is cozy with friendly staff and reasonably priced excellent vegetarian food and a satisfying selection of drinks

Went there on a warm afternoon after a walk thru the Aussere Neustadt. Staff very friendly, food is nice and drinks and venue are cool.

We went here for lunch on a sunny afternoon with bike flee market and DJ outside. We had vegetarian food, and it was fine, but it was the atmosphere, the service and the surroundings that did it for us. Go there for a cool and...laid back experience maybe just for a beer.

I was disappointed that the Indian food I used to get here was no longer on the menu. I suppose it is a winn for dresden as there are do many Indian places now. Service was friendly and fairly quick considering the place was full...on a Wednesday. It would be a good place to go for meat free meals but just kind of misses the mark for me.

I was sceptic first as I hadn 't been a big fan of the Indian cuisine they served earlier and the somewhat rustic charme of the restaurant which had been too rustic for my taste. I was extremely surprised two weeks ago when we went there...for dinner with friends. The restaurant is still rustic but has lost it 's shabby chic after the makeover and looks welcoming and fresh. Being a meatlover myself, the menu (only vegetarian nowadays! offered a big variety of different vegetarian dishes that made it hard to pick just one. That 's why we shared different dishes and they were all delicious from the cheese kachoori, to the fresh pasta/gnocchi and the roasted almond 'cookies ' with a pea and mint purree. It 's mostly modern, international cuisine while some dishes still have an Indian touch. Just the way I like it! That they really try to use as much local produce as possible is an absolute plus and I didn 't miss the meat for one second. The only minus was that in my opinion the portions were far too big : I definitely recommend the Scheune Café for great food, attentive service, relaxed athmosphere great variety of local beers and last but not least the nice 'Biergarten '!
