We have used Mid West Kebabs too many times to mention over the last 18 months, usually on a Friday night after a couple of drinks in the local Weatherspoons before we head home. We have tried a number of different kebabs from Doner, Shish, Mixed...and Mid West Kebab and all have been excellent, we prefer our sauce on the side and they always oblige, sometimes we want a pitta, sometimes we don't again always helpful. The food we cannot fault and as long as you go into the premises to collect then we cannot fault the service. However the delivery service is extremely poor, we have only used this twice and on both occasions our food arrived half an hour later than we were told and was virtually cold. We come to Hertford about once a month to stay on the Campsite and this October we had enjoyed a lazy afternoon and decided to use the delivery service, we were told a time and 5 minutes before that time we went to reception to wait, after 10 minutes I called to be told the food was on it's way, another 10 minutes and the same, eventually 30 minutes late our food arrived. We had to put the oven on to warm it all and it tasted good once heated so we let it be. However on 9th November we needed to use the delivery service again, we ordered and were told 40 minutes, again I went to reception to wait wait, I left it 15 minutes before calling and was told it was on it way would be there any minute, another 10 minutes and I called again to be told the delivery was there I explained I was at reception and no one was here but they insisted he was. another 10 minutes now 35 minutes late a called again, this time I was insistent that no one was there with my delivery, they kept insisting he was and then put the phone down on me!!! About 2 minutes later the driver arrived explaining that he couldn't find the site (a very large campsite, the only one in Hertford! . Kira (apologies if I have the name incorrect did call me back to say the driver had delivered, I explained how unhappy I was and that the food was barely warm, he offered to re cook it all for me and would have it with me in 20 minutes (the last delivery had taken over 1 hr 20 minutes from order to delivery and whilst they said 20 minutes I wasn't prepared to wait what would almost definitely be a lot longer than promised. So if you want a really fantastic Kebab and brilliant service please use Mid West (you won't be disappointed . BUT if you want a Kebab delivered steer well clear, I am sure it is down to the delivery drivers not knowing the area but to be continually told your delivery is there when it clearly isn't is very annoying and then it arrives almost cold!.
Take away last night turned up after one and half hours cold no chillie sauce no peppers and the lamb was livery and soft disgusting wont be using them again, shame used to be good
All the usual food you would expect from a takeaway kebab shop. I generally get a kebab from here on my way home from a long day at work, possibly 6 O'clock on a Friday so this isn't the drink speaking.
Has been recently refurbished the food is fine but prices have gone up. £7.20 for small doner and rice, walk 50 yards and get a meal and a drink in weather spoons for less.
