My husband, sister, and I stopped by this lovely cafe for breakfast after climbing Arthur's Seat. We were greeted with a friendly Scottish welcome by a nice young man named Sam. The service was top-notch and the cafe is a hidden gem right on the Royal Mile. Thank you.
We stopped off for lunch twice at the storytelling cafe both on days where we were doing lots of walking and required good fuel to keep going! The cafe is lovely very light and airy with plenty of tables. It's also really clean, which is great. On both days we ordered the same thing (we weren't feeling very adventurous! two jacket potatoes, one with tuna, one with cheese. They were excellent both times. Great portion size, lots of topping, lots of salad and dressing. The potatoes were perfectly cooked they had gone that great yellow colour inside. Service was quick and efficient. Price wise, for the amount of food we actually got, the meals are reasonable. Will definitely go back when we head back to Edinburgh and can recommend for a good, filling, fairly healthy lunch!
I absolutely adore this place. My friends and I were in search of breakfast and happened upon this charming cafe, tucked away above street level. You can either climb some steps from the lower side or enter through John Knox House on the high side. It seems that most of the customers here are locals who consider this cafe a vibrant community hub. It's conveniently located next to the Storytelling Centre, which offers child-friendly spaces, exhibition areas, and storytelling events for all ages. The cafe offers a variety of locally sourced produce and delicious hot brunch options. Adam, the friendly staff member behind the counter, took our order on the first day and remembered it every time we came back. The only downside is that it doesn't open until 10am. However, the food is fantastic, the coffee is great, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is calm and welcoming.
