Pelicans - El Paso

My family and I had been wanting to try Pelicans for a while now. I had never been before, so I didn't know what to expect. I love seafood, and all I wanted for my birthday was some good seafood. So, my family and I decided to celebrate at Pelicans. We drove almost 20 minutes to this oasis in the middle of the Chihuahuan desert. It was a Monday night, half busy, and they were ready and happy to accommodate our party of 12. We had made reservations the day before. Our waitress, Carla, was excellent. She had a big job, but she frequently checked on us and did her best to ensure we had a pleasant time. I started with a Pelicans Mezcal Margarita, which gave a delightful kick to the evening. For appetizers, I tried the calamari and mussels, both of which were great. The butter on the mussels enhanced the taste and experience. The appetizers were promptly served. For the main course, I had the cold water-cnecht with garlic potatoes and a bowl of New England mussels. The New England mussels were perfect - very rich, creamy, and full of flavor. I added some roasted garlic that came with the complimentary bread to the Clam Chowder for an extra garlic kick because I love garlic. The garlic potatoes were excellent as well. I usually eat my potatoes with gravy, but these potatoes didn't need anything extra. Last but not least, the lobster tail. It is not easy to make a perfect lobster tail, especially because it is delicate. I must say Pelicans did a perfect job. The lobster was cooked just right - delicate, tasty, with a light sweetness that was just perfect, and the side of lemon and butter only elevated the experience. The butter and lemon weren't even necessary, but I enjoyed the extra flavor. Even the rice under the lobster was fantastic. It soaked up the butter and flavorful juices while eating the lobster. The rice was a great addition to the plate. When we were all finished, our plates were clean, and everyone was full and happy. Thank you, Pelicans, for a delightful birthday dinner. We will definitely be back for more!

The service at this restaurant is fantastic. The food was delicious! I am definitely excited to try out some other dishes next time. The portion sizes are very generous; we were almost full after just two appetizers. We will definitely be back for a second round of eating here. I can't get enough of the sautéed mushrooms.
