First off the setting and location, it is in a complex with 4 other Asian restaurants and 3 brothels. Secondly, this is not a typical buffet, they have a selection of sashimi and sushi rolls on display and for everything else you tick a sheet and the kitchen will prepare it for you and bring it to your table. I am happy to report that we did not get sick or ill from the sushi, other than that there is nothing positive to report there, all the rolls taste the same and the sashimi looked and tasted bland and insipid. The prepared food was typical chinese fare, frozen prior to being fried/steamed/microwaved, sauces full of artificial ingredients which ended up triggering an allergy in me. All of this for 45 euros for two, will not be going back and suggest others to go elsewhere too.
It must be 12,or 14 years ago that we first visited Sapporo. Back then it had some 40 covers, one Teppanyaki table, and was run by a Japanese lady called Dissie. Compare that to today’s Sapporo, opened Just one month ago, that can seat approaching 200, has a segregated Teppanyaki area called ‘Koyo’ seating about 24, and that is presided over by Woo, the chef-owner of Sapporo who comes from Hong Kong and is a serial restaurateur. A fixed price buffet of some 50 items of Sushi and sashimi, with a Miso soup, plus a dozen, hot Asian dishes, freshly prepared to order, make up the lunch time offering for €15, and dinner at €18.50. There is a separate €25 fixed price menu for the Teppanyaki show, or, an a la cart alternative. It is pointless me listing out what is available, but what we did have between us, was about a quarter of the cold buffet and 3 of the hot dishes of Salt Pepper prawns, Chicken in Black Bean sauce and mixed Tempura. Desserts of, their version of Tiramisu, a chocolate Gateau, slices of a melon like fruit, and ice cream. We enjoyed our meal and will return to watch, and taste, the Teppanyaki show at some time in the future. The VS: Sapporo is on Centro Commercial Costasol, local 23, which is just before the ‘Cambio de Centedo to Urbanisation Bell Air, approach from the east. Parking in the service road. Open 7days a week for lunch and dinner. Unless you are going to a Teppanyaki show, reservations should not be necessary Bishlin Guide marks out of 5: Ambience: 4 food: 4 service: 4 Menu: 4 value: 4 O/A: 4 As you serve yourself, the marks for service are given for the helpful advice given by our waitress, Wei.
