Hunan Garden - Evanston

Place was recommended by the museum guide of the Joss House. The Asian population seems sparse coming from the SF Bay Area However, I did give it a try and was pleasantly surprised. Service was very speedy and my Mongolian beef was tasty and the portion was large. Wait staff was friendly and smiley

Definitely yummy food with nice flavors , friendly staff. Large portions and hot and fresh! We tried the Kung Pao chicken , the flavors were nice, though the chicken was a little chewy We asked for steamed rice and it was a very large portion. The dish and rice was plenty for two people. The soup was hot and fresh and the wontons were crisp and hot. I would go again and try another dish. Some nice music in the background would be pleasant, it was a bit too quiet.

I'm from Orange county, California, and we have some awesome Chinese restaurants in my area. This was as good as my favorite Chinese food place in fountain valley, ca, and better than many other Chinese restaurants. We got the daily combo which comes with, a cream cheese wonton, an eggroll, chicken lo mein, ham fried rice, your choice of 8 different entrees, and a cup of soup (egg drop or hot and sour). We got the cashew chicken for the entree, and everything was fantastic except the ham fried rice which was tasty, just really unusual and I'm not used to it. Portions were enough for us to have leftovers for lunch or dinner tomorrow night (or maybe midnight snack).

First the good, large portions at a reasonable price. That is it for the good. The building is run down with stains on walls and ceiling. Bathrooms were extremely dirty to point of making me gag. The server brought one plate out at a time meaning that my son was done eating before I got my food. The food was subpar it almost seemed like it was reheated in a microwave. I had cashew chicken and the chicken had the texture of pork. Just a bad experience overall

First time trying Wonderful Inn and it truly is Wonderful. Prices were very reasonable portion size were large and the flavors on point. If I lived in town I would be here every night. Oh and great service.
