As another reviewer noticed, I keep it as high as the Skylight Inn, B's and many others in the area. I lasted the commemorative day weekend and got the BBQ, Slav and Hushpuppy deal and once I tasted it, I think my childhood flashed before me. It was excellent. The BBQ was chopped, Tinder pig size, vinegar and pepper to perfection and as others noticed, no unwanted were in it, only top quality large chopped pig. The vinegar-based hover was always great and is an excellent slip. The crispy outer and damp inner cushions are an artwork. All the best for Jack Cobb, Mike and the Cobb family, they are cooking some old BBQ that has survived generations.
Simply place as it gets and just one of the very best. This is 100 Mile Barbecue, even 155 Mile Barbecue removal from Greensboro) just has to hope that it is open when you get there. First time wed, Fri Sa only, got a Thur. Second attempt there on the right day, was not yet open to business, despite the opening time known as 8:30 AM came at 9:30, no one home, no one in place. Today was different luck, met some really nice people who offer quality grill pig not often on Vintage Eastern NC BBQ, rival Skylight Inn, Wilber's, Grady's, Ken's Grill, B's, Allen Son in Chapel Hill, and the original White Swan in Smithfield. This BBQ belongs to this company. This place is small, simple in the tradition of big BBQ joints such as Grady's, White Swan, and Skylight Inn in other words, quite a lot of a dive. There is a radioiness for the interio worn and dim, but with UNC basketball poster and a calender on the wall behind the front counter someone is a big Tar Heel fan. At 10 a.m. arrived, Closed sign was not stopped in the door heart, but there missed a beat or two), but there was movement inside, so I sucked it up and knocked on the door. A very nice gentleman opened the door, and I wonder if I could get a grill he said I could, but little was ready, including the Hushpuppies obviously Collards were out of the question. I assured him it was the BBQ I wanted, I ordered a BBQ sandwich with racket, and 2 pounds BBQ to see unaware, and still, unmake. We scrub outside with our Haul, pound in the cooler, sandwich in front with paper towels and a diet Pepsi where you have to). The sandwich was amazing the BBQ moist, tender, no fat, no bits or pieces of strange matter the Slav was a beautiful Mayo based, with only the right, lit touch of mustard. This grill is like Ken's Grill in its clean taste and texture. Overall, the sandwich at Skylight Inn was as good as it gets.
Excellent! Try the green!
Some good ol' back country quality BBQ that you will be hard-pressed to find in the cities.
