We were received very friendly, and the locals were at the adjacent bar of the same name, enjoying the late afternoon sunshine, which turned into a real downpour as we returned from a meal in the near (2 kilometers away) brewery. Very nice breakfast, so we'll be back, this time on the motorbike....
Deciding on a light lunch we ordered vegetable risotto. Much to my surprise it was made with barley not rice. Not a dish I would ever order again.
La Cuba has been on the same spot, operated by the same family for over 50 years. It is rather unassuming, but the dining atmosphere is absolutely 5-star. The food is unique to region, so don 't come here and order pizza or spaghetti and meatballs... get the plate of the day as recommended by the staff (on my last visit, it was grilled game birds Uzzei in the local dialect)...that means the lady did it that day, just for the one day, and only in the amount that the restaurant can seat for one night- about 40 people. The price is great for what you get, but it is not cheap eats...these guys have to make a living in a small out-of-the-way town. And they do a great job.
The food was superb, the staff friendly and efficient. Would strongly recommend if eager to try local specialities.
Loved eating outside under the tent. Great spaghetti, lovely chocolate mousse!
