Often hear the people of French cuisine, English cuisine...not distract from these, but Portuguese cuisine is exquisite. this restaurant is a good example for a place that has good food in a small city, including some traditional game offers such as wild boar,...stag/buck quail, among others. the fish is also great. if possible they order one of the traditional regional dishes.
We have been visiting portugal since 2005 for our holidays. we stayed many paints in Covilhã on a small camping site, which is mainly used by people on the way to algarve. the restaurant império dos sabores is located right in front of the campsite, so we eat almost always. here once or twice. in the course of the years we found eating well prepared and the people there working very friendly. the personal does not speak English, but the most basic things they will understand. for us is the necessity to manage in Portuguese, one of the charms. the restaurant serves traditional foods that attract predominantly local customers. they can find families, businessmen or even people in their work clothes in the restaurant. this year we noticed that they have served two day specialties fish and meat during lunch, besides à la carte dishes. when we went there, they had febra do porco grelhada' (grilled pork cutlet) and carapau com arroz de tomate' (horse mackerel with tomatorei.) as a starter, a union soup was served and the dessert of the day was serradura. this means sawdust and is a pudding of milk, saw and cookies. we were there with our two very young children and a local friend. our two and a half-year-old son enjoyed rice and pommes, but was not in the mood to eat the meat that my wife and I ordered. a simple meat dish served with baked potatoes. our friend had the fish dish. of course everything was shared and I tasted everything. for three meals, broth, olive, extra rice and fries and drinks a koks, half a liter orange limonade and a liter red house wine we have paid an astronomical amount of 27 euro. during our camping stay we also drank coffee in the typical cafeteria/café, which is also part of the restaurant.
