Feedback gevenI am French and fan of cocking. In the same week I tested a great French restaurant and perhaps one of the worth of Florence and imagine which was the most excpensive? The Il Conventino inside the Tolomei Hotel&Resort. In order to test the specialities of this restaurant I decided with my wife to follow the advices of Giovani (a great steward without who this restaurant had closed since a long time). Do you know one class restaurant where the Signature Lamb smoked with grass) course comes on the table cold (I would have to say frozzen)? Just by taking a chop with finger, the bone was frozzen so the meal would have to be also cold ...I tested and it was cold. I asked to warm it thinking that they would chance the course to redoo it correctly but not; it came back without one chop (the one I tested to see if it was cooked the first time). I looked at the cook level and for sure that was overcooked (more than welldone)! Giovani proposed to me immediatly to change of main course and took pigeon pastas which was just correct In order to finish I took a Bavarois but also surprise; it was a cream and absolutly not a Bavarois: no sponge cake! and overall the cream wasn 't good. How to miss such basics: lamb chop and simple Bavarois? Finally the cost has been very and too expensive at 135€ for 2 when on the monday we went in Bordeaux into le quatrieme mur the restaurant of our famous french chief Mr. Etchebest (1 star Michelin) where the 3 plates menu is at 34€ and when at two, with vine, I paid 103€ and eated delicious cuisine in a marvelous space (Bordeaux Opera) The poor Giovani has been obliged to offer to us a bottle of domestic oil to compensate our disappointement I hate those Chief who wants to revisit the cooking principle and standards established by Mr. Auguste Escoffier in 1900 (the official king of the worldwilde Chiefs) without having the basics. Please buy the Escoffier Book, reddo the standard as written after after years of excellence propose your vision but not before!
Great food and friendly staff. Their steak Fiorentina is one of the best we have ever eaten! 10/10
Good food, romantic atmosphere and the staff did a great job making our time there special.
Definitely Overpriced. The food is ok but absolutely does not justify the price.
Beautiful environment (the location on the hills around the blooming is already a guarantee) thoughtful and very attentive staff. I went for a Easter lunch and found great and very well-kept dishes. I think they're in line with those of restaurants of equal prestige.
