Habitat Lounge - Fitzroy

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. I had previously enjoyed some great drinks here and had planned to host my 60-person birthday party in the beautiful garden at the back of the restaurant. I had made arrangements with the owners months in advance, expecting to have wonderful food and a fully staffed bar. However, when I arrived 10 minutes early, I was told that the space was not ready due to a previous afternoon party. My guests from all over Australia arrived 40 minutes later, and we were directed to the front bar as the back area was still not prepared. We waited for drinks before finally being seated outside, where there was no alcohol available and no staff attending to us. It took 2 hours for our meals to arrive, which were disappointing and seemed haphazardly thrown together. Many of my friends ended up with nothing to eat. The bar was still not properly staffed, so guests had to go to the front bar for drinks. When the wait staff finally arrived at 9:30 pm, a member of my party had to serve the wine as there was no one else available. I had paid $3000 for this special occasion, but the owner's promises fell far short of expectations. Three of my adult children had to help out at the front and back bars, while one even had to go into the kitchen to cook because there was no food prepared. It was a total disaster and I am now refusing to pay anything except for the drinks. I have always enjoyed the drinks and food at this restaurant when dining in, but I would strongly advise against hosting any sort of event there.

We were delighted by the lively DJ playing upbeat tunes on a Sunday afternoon. The happy hour cocktails were a great value. Coming from Brisbane, we found the outdoor seating area to be a bit too chilly for our liking, so we asked the waiter to turn on a heat lamp. Unfortunately, none of the heat lamps had gas. We would have likely ordered another cocktail if there was heating available. The DJ was friendly and played popular radio songs that were easy to listen to.

My son and I used a Groupon for dinner at this restaurant. We were initially informed that the Groupon was expired, but they would still honor it as a goodwill gesture. The menu we received did not include any of the pizzas listed on the voucher, as we were told that the menu had recently changed. We ended up being limited to only 4 pizza options that we weren't particularly excited about. We also ordered a speck dish, which was poorly cooked and served cold. The curly fries that came with our pizza were microwaved and barely warm. When our pizza finally arrived, it was a disappointment. The artichoke pizza we ordered had only a few pieces of artichoke scattered on it, which was disappointing. The pizza lacked flavor and was not satisfying. The pizza was served on a wooden board without any utensils or napkins provided. We had to use the napkin from the fries to divide them between us. Overall, the outdoor seating area was pleasant and the cocktails were good, but the food and service left much to be desired. I would not choose to dine here again, as I prefer freshly cooked and properly served food.

Beautiful small bar to relax or party from the back is a good space to go. its small and can be overcrowded, but the atmosphere is great. presumably affordable drinks and friendly staff.

I had my 30th birthday there in the courtyard out the back, it was a lovely setting. They were REALLY hard to get in contact with and confirm anything. When I first called the mobile number on their website (no landline?! they were overseas and...didn 't call back until I phoned multiple times. Then during the emailing, I had to write multiple emails to get confirmation, then they said I will give you a final confirmation when I can jump onto our booking system in the next hour or two , of course, there was no reply. I called the week before get confirmation, but really was quite fed up by that stage. When I turned up, even though I 'd been emailing them, they spelt my name wrong on the sign for the private function. It took in excess of half an hour for my guests to get drinks from the bar and my minimum spend only included what I spent, not what my guests spent, so was a bit of a 'rip off '. They were friendly, and the drinks and platters were tasty, but they weren 't very helpful.
