Feedback gevenDas Essen schmeckte uns sehr gut. 3 Pisco, 3 Hauptgerichte.
We had the best night of our long weekend at La Cevi. We started outside but soon there was so much rain that we moved inside. The music was so loud we could not hear each other. After asking if they could turn the volume a bit lower, we had the best evening. First of all great staff that had fun with each other. Then great cocktails, highly recommend the Chilcano Classico it was very delicious. But also the other cocktails were so nice. Then the food. Really enjoyed that. Wonderful trio of Ceviche as a starter to share and then the Lomo and Tuna were so good. For me the Tuna was the winner of the evening. The sauces, gamba's and pulpo with it were so good. Really give it a try, we had such a good time with the friendly staff and great food.
The place continues to be really nice from an ambience perspective, so were the drinks. However, it seems that people have complained about the portions as they are now bigger..due to the addition of tons of potatoes to the dishes...so the starter plate (anticuchos, i.e. heart skewers, causa i.e. spicy mashed potatoes with chicken, scallops, mussels and octopus), the lomo saltado (filet with tomatoes and onions) and the seafood pan...all served on top of at least one huge potato slices. Definitely too much. The service was terrible, and the server a) was completely ignorant of what came with the starter plate (said carapulcra would be included, it was not, and forgot to mention the mussels), b) when asked about ocopa or huancaina sauce only asked about ocopa sauce, and told me there wasn't any, c) said the card payment was not possible without even resetting the machine (it worked perfectly). And when the customer (me) needs to talk with the cook to find out what is being served...it is just not acceptable. It seems that this place has become either arrogant or complacent (the have won some prices) as the feedback about the service has been given repeatedly not only by me but by many tripadvisor members. A pity, really, as the cook can really cook (minus the potatoes, that is). Also a pity: the owner is nowhere to be seen anymore...
Well actually i thought i will enjoy a nice Peruvian restaurant in the heart of Frankfurt. Sadly i did like the food, but we got not so quiet happy with the service.First we look in the webpage to sneak peak the menu and in our case look for something for our kid... when we arrive they said they had another menu... and when we ask but what happened with the one of internet the answer was: oh ja we forgot to actualize it".Ok happens ... the. We order a salat for a kid... but they put a sauce on it (that you know parents) the kids will not try them or it them. Then we order CHICHA ( typical peruvian drink) the answer: "sorry we had a long night" so A. Means the logistics are terrible or B. You don't care for your costumers on Sunday!! After the troubles we order Chifle that was in my lomo saltado plate.... or at least in a different way chips... for my kid that didn't eat something until yet....the waitress brought as a delicious fried banana y lomo saltado sauce ( contains chili and spices) for a kid! So it was my birthday so i didn't wanted to ruined more after a meal disaster! The food is tasty BUT look how yr restaurant is being manage out of the kitchen!
We went for dinner there as the restaurant was so highly praised. The story behind it is nice but sorry the thing that counts- the food was completely overrated. The service was utterly poor. We had the three ceviche as a starter. Very small portions for a hefty price. Further aggravated by a large piece of sweet potatoe. As if they were short of fish. The taste of the classical ceviche was nice the Tamarind one too sweet and the salmon a bit bland. Decent quality of fish though the chunks we found too large. The service was unattentive, just put things on the table, Quote' if you do not like beer, we have Weizen'.As a main we choose the warm tapas variety, which again came accompanied by two large pieces of potatos. The pulpo and the meat as well as the heart were ok. Nothing outstanding. We will try again to see whether the kitchen can do better. Admittedly the local festival strained quality and service.
