Poor Richard's - Gainesville

Our family has been visiting Poor Richard's for over 30 years, and we've always enjoyed it. However, since the ownership change, the quality has declined. Last night, we had a reservation for a special occasion with a party of 14, and we were disappointed to find that they had run out of prime rib, which they are famous for. They also didn't have a few other menu items available. I don't see how this place can continue to thrive under the new ownership.

I ordered two medium rare prime rib dinners, each priced at $42. However, I’m not certain it was actually prime rib; if it was, it definitely wasn’t cooked to medium rare. The meat tasted like it had been microwaved. I couldn't eat it and brought my concerns to the server, who said she would relay my complaint. Since she was getting married that Saturday, I paid the $114 bill and left a generous tip. I’ve been dining there for many years, but I won’t be returning again.

I was greeted warmly by several employees as I entered the restaurant and the server continued the good experience. The food, crab stuffed jumbo shrimp, loaded baked potato and house salad with the house dressing, was delicious! The portions are generous and the interior of the restaurant has a warm feel. Overall it was an excellent experience and the people made sure of that. As a side note, for history buffs or those interested in WWII there's a nice collection of front pages of various newspapers from the war, located in the foyer. We spent a few minutes looking at the headlines.

Take out order for carry out pick up Some one else picked up our order. Things happen. When we arrived for pick up waited 30 minutes for order to be redone. When home the order had 2 sides left off. Called to discuss. Niot a good conversation. Normally I don't rank or discuss, but this was a bad experience.

Food was awful and tasteless There were 4 of us and we all said everything was awful Service was great .Chris was our server.He was awesome
