Tommy and his assistant were fabulous. We arrived early. We were told they would start getting things ready. We got to eat a half and early. We really enjoyed the food was really good. Thank you so much for helping us with a short notice. You all are great!!!!
Calhoun 's used to be a good place for a steak, but with this restaurant location that isn 't the case. When our group of 9 arrived they told us it could be up to 30 minutes as it was shift change. None of us had any issue with that. We got menus and decided on what we would have. When we were seated it was 3 round tables pushed together, a bit awkward but we made it work. The Waitress was a lovely helpful lady. I have a food allergy to bell peppers chili peppers, so while we waited for our table I asked the manager about certain things I could have as the menu had changed since my last visit to the Calhoun 's in Lenior City near our home). We have been customers of Calhoun 's for years years. I discovered that all the steaks , except the filet mignon had a form of peppers. I was informed that their commissary would marinate the meat and send it up to the restaurant, so no way to fix that. It was pretty much the same for their chicken, which I 'm not a fan of anyway. The only steak I could have was $30. : I personally like my steak RARE, cold red center... often more rare than that. I made my request clear and looking at the menu their listed rare was cool red center. My grandpa had a cattle ranch and he taught us that mooing rare was the most flavorful only way to eat a steak) Well... my plate arrived with a sweet potato and a WELL DONE piece of meat. The BLACK grill marks were deeply emblazoned. I said 'well that looks over cooked '. As our waitress stood by I cut into it and it was, at best it was medium well. I sent it back but kept the potato to eat. The same manager I spoke to earlier swiftly came out to me and he was HOT! As in mad) Are YOU the one who sent back the steak? He growled. He tried to tell me that what I got WAS rare! He said he checked the temp and it was at the accepted temp for rare. Hmmm, he must have forgotten that it had to have cooled off after I cut it and the time he finally stuck it with a meat prob. He wanted an argument I think. It was clear that he forgot it wasn 't what I ordered and if they couldn 't do what their own menu said, then come tell me that before you kill a perfectly good piece of meat. So there I was, left with just a sweet potato to eat... all our friends were about done with their meals. The bill came... I was CHARGED $4.50 for that damn sweet potato!!! We will not be back!!!
I Highly recommend you to not go to this restaurant. The food was horrible and they forgot our order even when the restaurant was almost dead silent. What a shame
Unfortunately we were served raw chicken. I went to take a bite of the chicken tender and it had a gooey and weird texture. I spit it out and noticed it was raw. I cut open the chicken tender and it wasn't cooked all the way through. I asked for a new fork since mine had raw chicken on it. It took the waitress a long time to return, at least 10 minutes and with no fork. I asked for a manager one came over right away. She insisted it was the lighting and nothing is wrong with the chicken. I took a picture. You can decide for yourself. It took an additional 10 minutes to get our check after we asked for it. We won't be back.
