I was left feeling completely bewildered and will definitely not be booking here in the future. If they can't even be civil when taking a reservation, I can only imagine how they treat their customers while dining there.
As Gold Coast natives, we have enjoyed lunch at the Fish Emporium several times and it is always a pleasant experience. The restaurant offers ample undercover parking, a beautiful view of the river and surfers typical of the Gold Coast, and the meals are just right for lunch. The only downside is the limited wine selection, with the cheapest bottle starting at $47. Additionally, we saw a sign advertising a special autumn meal deal for $39 at the main entrance, but once seated at our table, there was no mention of it and we were not given the special menu. Remember, if you don't ask, you don't get.
I visited this restaurant after reading the previous reviews and we enjoyed the experience so much that we went back the following day to watch the sunset and try some other tempting dishes on the menu. On our first visit we ordered the tempura bugs...and the salt and pepper calamari. The bugs were outstanding as was the calamari. We expected a small entree size but found after sharing these generous sized dishes that we would need to visit again on the following day which was our last day in Queensland to try the other dishes that caught our eye So glad we did as Chris arranged for us to share the seafood chowder followed by the prawns and bugs and the amount of food was just right. This restaurant is a hidden treasure that shouldn’t be missed and was by far the best restaurant we visited on our trip to the Gold Coast. Chris looked after us on both our visits and not only provided his advice on the menu selection and wine but was so attentive to our every need and made the experience at the Fish Emporium memorable The restaurant is not beachside but is located in the Capri centre and was a short taxi ride from the Marriot where we were staying to the Via Roma on the Isle of Capri. So glad we did and highly recommend this restaurant
We went at night and the lights shining on the water were beautiful. It was peaceful and relaxing. The staff are very attentive and the food is fresh and delicious a great place to visit when on the GC !
This restaurant would probably be best for lunch so that you can really enjoy the harbour view. Lots of options on the menu seafood and not. I had the $39 set menu which was very good value. My husband enjoyed the oysters the...best he's had in a while (Tasmanian Pacific). Service was good; waiter was friendly. A nice dinner.
