The lamb chops (asked for medium rare, got medium well to near well-done) aren't half bad if you eat them with the hummus provided, but hard to decide if the price is really worth it (no, it's not $13.99. That needs to be updated). Honestly just made me miss the spot near the Glendale Galleria that I go to (Mini Kabob) even more. The owner of the shop is nice though, so there's that. The meat they have for sale also seems decent, but I can't say I'd order the lamb chops again. *update: to elaborate a little further as to why it's not exactly worth it, the lamb chops were just way too bland. Also, I've just had better Armenian food, so it's hard to say I like it from my point of view without sounding like I'm giving free compliments. The hummus also had a yogurt-like consistency, but tasted alright. Sad to say the hummus had more flavor than the lamb though lol
Best marinated kebob! Lamb lula and Pork belly and beef fillet are the best. Also fresh grilled veggies salad and babbaganoush are very good! Hovik and his wife are vety kind and professional. Recommend this place.
Just used Hovik's Famous Meat Deli for a dinner party and I'm so glad I was referred to them!!!!!! I'm new to the area and a friend recommended them, she didn't disappoint!!! Service was great and the food was beyond!! My guest's all commented on how great all the food was and I dont eat lamb but tried it and ... wow!!! Highly highly recommend you try them!!
I have been to Hovik's many times since I moved to the area. It is your average Armenian Deli market but what has brought me to yelp to review this establishment has been the consumer price. This place is family owned and they work the register. Every time the total price of my purchase has been different. On top, this last time I was over charged on Basturma. I was charged $29.99 per pound by the owners wife and Who knows how much I paid for the salad because they didn't attach the usual tag and she told the woman packaging not to top it off.
