My wife and I visited Carvalhal recently and stopped by for lunch. We had sea bass off the grill that was delicious. Very good service, great food and coffee.

We had a fish and steak for 35Euro in total. The food was okey but nothing memorable. The place was half empty yet there was a small queue at gents since there is just one toilet.... Overall typical beach canteen.

Excellent restaurant for local fish and seafood meals. The best and most traditional of the place are the rice and or noodles fish dishes such as massinha de garoupa . It 's served with a lot of delicious sauce and it looks more like a soup. Also very good the linguadinhos fritos com arroz de tomate fried fish with tomato special rice. Very good price level for the quality of the food. Lots of mosquitos at night. Take care if you choose an outdoor table.

If I'm at Carvalhal this is my place to have a morning coffee, some lunch, sunset delicacies or a long dinner. It's an honest place with great food, real ingredients and fresh ideas. I love when the locals use local ingredients such as fresh vegetables from the neighbouring garden, potatoes from the cultures near the rice fields and wine from the producers, namely Herdade da Comporta or Brejinho da Costa. Also neighbouring wineries. This represents a great value and adds richness to your local experience. From the fish from our coastline, seafood, to the meat everything is worth to try. But I confess that the Shrimps with sauce is the reason I often go there.
