The sign on the door reads open 8am to 3pm.. It was 2:20 Pm so we figured plenty of time to grab a quick Breakfast before 3pm. There was only 2 ppl seated inside when we walked in.. 2 waitresses busy cleaning and get ready to close..it took several minutes before we were even acknowledged standing there.. Then the 2 servers discussed across the restaurant where they would seat us because they were closing.. Then the one said "you can sit here, we have cleaned the rest of the restaurant." Real welcoming NOT! We felt like we were imposing.. After taking our seat she asked if we wanted a drink..yes we wanted coffee..She comes back and says "I had to put in a fresh pot because we are closing" Wow really, still making us feel like we are imposing! So a few minutes later a young couple walks in, and I can feel that the waitress are not happy about it.. They seat the couple..Then the younger one comes out with some big dirty mop and starts mopping the floor!! I Iooked at my husband and said YUCK! Thankful the guy at the other table spoke up and asked if they could put the mop bucket away until he was gone because the smell of cleaner was overwhelming and not something you want to smell while eating! They put the bucket away right away, but the waitress had to try to defend the smell and then the **** manger came over saying something about it being Lavender fragrance!! Come on really just put the bucket away and apologise!.. I thanked the guy for saying something..We get our traditional breakfast and it was ok..but the atmosphere and service made it a awkward experience! At 2:55 Pm a couple of ladies came in and were promptly told we are closed!.. We probably won't go back... I think they are missing the "hospitality" part of the restaurant business! If you close a 3pm wait to shut down until 3pm..or close at 2:30pm if you have to be out the door at 3pm!
We had a GR8 breakfast there with another couple this past Sunday morning. It was our 1st time, but not for the other couple. My wife had 2 eggs with bacon, ham, sausage & home fries. I had the Eggs Halinas, which is essentially Eggs Benedict, but with salmon. In fact, they offer 4 different varieties of eggs benedict. The portions were HUGE, but we managed to finish them. The breakfast menu is vast & anyone can find something to their liking. The restaurant is located in a small mall & parking is not an issue.
Have been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner over the past 6 to 9 months. Breakfast is definitely the best thing they do. Wasn't very impressed with lunch or dinner. Staff are friendly, but the actual service is poor. Really a hit & miss kind of place.
We went to the Elm street cafe and had a great breakfast; I had eggs, sausage and home fries and it was done to my liking. We will definitely be coming back.
Went for Father's Day breakfast figuring it was going to be busy I made a reservation. When we got to the restaurant the staff looked like they were completely overwhelmed and unprepared for the influx of people. The man running the door had no idea what he was doing. It looked like they booked all the reservation at the same time. We waited for over an hour as they ran around trying to figure out tables to fit people. It looked completely unprofessional. They looked like they didn't have enough staff as the waitress were taking orders and bussing there own tables. There was no excuse as based on the reservation page they would of known how busy they would of been. They never acknowledged the long wait or apolgized. I understand it was busy but they should of had the staff in place. Once we were seated we had a nice waitress take our order about 10 minutes after we were seated. No fault on the waitress as she was running around as they had not enough staff on. We figured when she asked for our drink order we figured it was better to order our food or it would be awhile for her to come back. Our drinks were brought out right away. As we waited for our food around us they were moving tables in to accommodate large groups . Then they asked us if we would get up and move our table. So they could set up a long table. The problem is the long table they set up even moving the table over there was not enough room to sit at the end, that the people when they sat down had to remove a whole table to get in to sit. The food was brought over and the person who brought it literally just through down the plates. Then we had to ask for the toast that came with the meal. The food was awful and disgusting. The eggs were cold and had a green grey colour through out them that they almost looked like mold was growing on it. The bacon was hard and chewy as if it sat under a heat lamp for a few hours. The hasbrowns were also over cooked. We ate what we could but for approximately $10 a person it was definitely not worth it.When the server came after being finshed for 15 minutes and not having touched the eggs. She finally asked how the food was. We told her the eggs had this moldy look to them and showed her them her response was that is disgusting looking. Then asked would we like new eggs but they would take a while as the kitchen was backed up with orders. We had by this time been at the restaurant for two and a half hours and so we told her no as it would take to long. You would think when a server acknowledges that the eggs were disgusting that they would take them off the bill or discount the meal a few dollars. But they charged the full price. Then when the brought the credit card machine they left and took off but when I used it the machine was out of paper and only gave a merchant reciept. As I tried to flag a Waitress down to no avail. I ended up having to take a picture of the reciept. By the time we left the restaurant we had been over two and a half hours The only positive thing was that we were not situated by the door to the restaurant as it was full of people surrounding tables where people were trying to eat. I am not sure if they are under new management or just poor service. But they need to hire someone that knows what they are doing and pay for more staff when they know they will be busy as there is no reason breakfast should be more then an hour. They also need to improve there food quality and customer service. If they are going to be pricing there breakfast that high then they need to have better food. I definitely will be going elsewhere in the future and won't be giving elm street cafe any more business.
