T&S has some awesome vegan options with rotating hot meals, soups, draught kombucha, fresh produce, and frozen/shelf stable products. They also have an entire isle for herbs, beauty products, and supplements. The staff is always very friendly. The only reason we don’t frequent the store is because they are very overpriced. We tend to only go here to get vegan products that we can’t find elsewhere.
This is a wonderful small natural foods store with a really good variety of products and produce, both organic and regular, especially given the small footprint of the place. Close too Quinnipiac campus. When in season, they feature local farms. For vegans, the food bar is fantastic. They typically have at least two vegan soups every day. At the hot food bar, they have at least one vegan breakfast option (the egg and cheeze veggie wrap is great), as well as a few lunch options. They also have cold prepared foods like salads and wraps made in house, along with a variety of out of house items. The French lentil and jackfruit tuna salads are favorites. Prices are more than fair given the quality. Head either way on the CT shoreline and you will pay much more. In sum, great spot for vegans. Or for anyone looking for healthy good food.
For the size of this small market, the selection is surprisingly good. Obviously, you aren't going to get your grocery list here, but you can certainly get everything you need for a good dinner, some great prepared foods, local veggies along with many items you won't find in the larger stores. I have always found the staff to be friendly and knowledgeable. The prices may be a bit higher than larger stores, but not that much and I think a bit extra is totally worth it for the convenience, not to mention to support a valuable small business.
I generally like Thyme and Season Their prices are cheaper than Edge of the Hood on a lot of the products. Yes, they are small and no, they do not have the largest selection. No, the staff is not always friendly or knowledgeable, but they are just college kids. I like their vegan products, once again, no, its not the largest, but its nice to keep your money local (ie NOT Stop and Shop). If you live close by its convenient enough. They always have free samples and the aisles are wide enough for more than one person to walk through which is really nice. No they do not have a large hot buffet or a Juice Bar, but its nice to know that they are not wasting food either. They don 't have a huge case of dried up baked goods like Edge has to offer, but they have plenty of prepacked moist and tasty cookies, breads, or brownie type things. I would recommend thyme and season if you live in the area, know what you want to purchase, enjoy not getting bumped by strangers, want cheaper prices than edge of the woods, and don 't want to go down to the scariest section of Whalley ave ever. With all that said check it out for yourself!
