Friand was lovely, coffee well done and service with a smile :
Found this one by accident. Surprised to find the coffee is really good, as is the flour less orange cake. Lovely staff, good location and good atmosphere. Not very big so wouldn't turn up with more than 2-3 people.
This is an odd choice of cafe for me but I'm putting it out there as one of my favourites. There you go I've said it. The atmosphere is a little too clinical and uncreative for my liking, though it is very clean and there is always a paper to read. The reason I like this place is that they make excellent, really excellent organic coffee. Even if it wasn't organic I would still love it. They support local dunnstown based small scale milk producer, Inglenook Dairy and seem to use this creamy offering for all their coffees, milk shakes etc. even though it's quite pricey. They support another local producer, Ground Pleasures, and use his hot chocolate and chai, even his super yummy, rich and dark, ethically soured sugar adornes the tables. (no that was not me helping myself to a spoonful). Their wraps, sandwiches cakes etc do nothing for me but they do make awesome and cheap kids lunch boxes filled with delicious and healthy food and organic treats. If you're a ufs member you get a substantial discount too. All up, the service is friendly and down to earth, for a place that doesn't boast that they support this or that they are doing an excellent job. And seriously excellent coffee all in a central location.
Great coffee for a little shop in Ballarat.
