I booked an afternoon tea for 15 guests at a price of £15.95 each, despite the website stating it would be £13.95. I paid a deposit but did not receive confirmation until I followed up with an email. When we arrived at the venue, we were taken to a function room with no table linen and dirty cutlery. The tables were wobbly, and the walls, carpet, and windows looked filthy. Everything was dusty, including the tea and coffee pots that we had to serve ourselves from. The bar staff was rude and refused to take separate payments, insisting that we pay altogether. Despite this, when I tried to pay with my card, the machine declined the payment and the staff member loudly suggested I check my bank account for funds. After some embarrassment, the payment finally went through. The service continued to deteriorate as the staff were unattentive and made guests feel unwelcome. The afternoon tea itself was disappointing, with cheap, store-bought food presented on platters. The sandwiches were sloppily assembled, with bread toppers used as filling. Guests left feeling hungry and cheated, and we had to clean the tables ourselves. Overall, the experience was a disappointment, and guests expressed their intention to leave negative reviews. The venue was dirty, with non-functional toilet roll dispensers and a lack of cleanliness throughout. I regret not reading the reviews before booking, as our experience mirrored the negative feedback we later discovered.

I attended an afternoon tea for a baby shower at this restaurant. The coffee was very strong, the tea was served without clean cups, and the sandwiches and cakes were not up to par. The place was dirty, with disgusting carpets, and the staff were unhelpful and rude. We had to clear our own table of dirty cups and glasses in order to eat the subpar food, which seemed like it came from a corner shop. Additionally, the toilets were in poor condition, with only one flushing properly. Overall, I would not recommend this venue for a private function as it was very disappointing.

This restaurant is in desperate need of a renovation. The furniture and decor are unappealing and the toilets are dirty. The drinks are flat and served in old, dirty glasses. None of us will be returning here.

I came here for an afternoon baby shower. The room was dirty, with tatty old Christmas decorations in March) and hanging down fairy lights at the window. The room was set up wrong for the buffet ordered, and full of general “tat” which we asked to be removed. We spent the first hour trying to make the filthy room look presentable with our own decorations and table cloth etc The ladies toilets looked as though they had been smashed up by vandals and became blocked in the middle of the party, although the blockage was cleared quickly. The buffet was all “ bought in” ie packet cakes and scones and a supermarket dip tray with packs of ready vegetables. There was minimal provision for the vegetarians, and I was told “everything is vegetarian” by the “ supervisor” when I could clearly see chicken in the rolls and lots of different meat in the buffet. The “ supervisor” obviously had minimal interest in serving us, spending most of the time on his phone. My only positive comment is that we were not charged the balance for the room hire, by way of compensation.

Worst place ever, management are disgusting, rude. Drinks are so overpriced but so watered down. DO NOT GO HERE
