Went here with my mother for Sunday lunch and the food did not disappoint. I had the Trifongo with pollo a la criolla (pictured). It was delicious. I’m Puerto Rican and finding good authentic PR food is sometimes difficult here in Florida. The only drawback (and reason I didn’t give 5 stars) was that the inside was a bit warm. I’m not sure if that had to do with the AC not working properly or more with the fact that the inside seating area is rather small and the kitchen is right there. Or maybe because keeping the front door close can be a bit of a challenge with patrons coming in and out. Don’t let that deter you from coming and checking it out though. It was a pleasant dining experience, with delicious food. ??
My Puerto Rican mother insisted we eat at Casa Borinquén before I return to NY. I was not disappointed. The mofongo was flavorful and fried chicken was a great compliment, my Dad opted for shrimp with his meal and my mother had pasteles. The pasteles were great and the shredded chicken was seasoned really well. We shared a coconut flan which was delicious. Definitely give it a try if your looking for authentic Puerto Rican comfort food.

The food at this restaurant is outstanding, and the staff is fantastic. I usually don’t care for flan, but since they didn't have tres leches cake, I decided to give it a try—and I was pleasantly surprised. The flan was absolutely perfect. We ordered the fried red snapper served with white rice, red beans, and yuca. For our second dish, we had churrasco alongside rice with peas and tostones. Every single bite was delicious. I was so eager to dig in that I forgot to take photos of our main dishes; all I managed to snap was a picture of the flan and our leftovers. This is definitely a place I’d love to visit again and again.
