House special noodles was crispy noodles with veggies, a little bit of char siu. It could have used a bit more sauce but it was good. The only thing I did not like was the seafood tofu soup that had some shrimp and bits of fish. It had a taste I was not familiar with and did not like. Almost like a chemical taste in it. Probably an ingredient I am not familiar with. Service was good and ample parking as it is in the times, Epi-Ya and Graces lot. Reasonable price and Yes I did enjoy it overall. Each was between 15 and 17 dollars
Tried to order take out food the other day. They got the order incorrect. They added an extra order of crab when we ordered 2. They charged us for three. Other dishes we also ordered. The person answered the phone said two but charged fir three. This is a warning to double check your order twice with the items and cost. We tried to get it corrected but it was still incorrect. We calculated $129 but they said $188.90. We used to order a lot from here before, but they will not have our business. Apparently they have individuals who don't understand English. Just a suggestion to all to double check your order!!!
4.5 STARS Don't judge a book by its cover. In this case, it's more like don't judge a restaurant by its name.Eat on Time (ET . That's the name of a Chinese restaurant. Totally not what would I have imagined the owners chose. When I first heard the buzz Donna O. created with ET, which led to Auntie (Nadine C. post yummy looking pics on social media. I was curious to try but didn't want to take that plunge with my family members. But recently, a pair of February babies decided to have a joint get together and the birthday girl chose ET. Located in the same shopping complex with Beretania Times, Epi-Ya Bakery, Grace's Inn and Sushi You, ET is a Chinese restaurant that offers a decent selection of Cantonese cuisine, fresh seafood, and Chinese hotpot. Compared to past experiences of dining at new restaurants, I didn't really study the menu ahead of time. I was one of the last attendees in our group of 10 to arrive and I took on the role of ordering.Interesting enough, the wait staff didn't speak Cantonese but spoke both Mandarin and English. I decided to go conservative and not order any exotic dishes, as well as be economical as fresh, live seafood can easily rack up your bill. To be auspicious, I intentionally ordered 8 dishes, and here is what we sampled:JINGDU RIBS (5/5 This is also known as Capital Style Pork Chops, a popular sweet and sour dish. This was executed well and many of us commented on the flavorful sauce. The meat was very tender and delicious.Honey Walnut Shrimp (5/5 I saw Auntie's take out photo previously and noticed the generous serving and large shrimp. Hands down, this was also another winner amongst us. The batter coating was minimal and loved the exterior crunch. The shrimp just had enough of the sweet mayo sauce. The candied walnuts on the bottom were also fresh and crunchy.Crispy Skin Chicken (4.5/5 I initially was planning on ordering chicken wings but after seeing the price and doing the math, I decided to go economical by getting a whole chicken. It was deep fried nicely where you could enjoy the crispy skin and the seasoned salt was offered on the side. This also worked out well because some people enjoy white meat, and some enjoy dark meat. And me, I enjoy the boney pieces, so it all worked out. Ong Choy w/ Garlic Sauce (4/5 This popular veggie dish was executed well as you could taste the wok hei. I usually don't like to add meat to this dish as you need to balance your overall meal. However, it was seasoned a tad bit too heavy to my liking.Sliced Lamb w/ Leeks (4.5/5 This dish also showcased the chef's wok hei skills as both lamb and leeks were tossed in the wok at high heat for that smokey flavor. This dish was seasoned well, and the leeks kept its al dente texture and vibrant green color. Salt and Pepper Squid (1.5/5 This dish fell flat with me. The squid lacked the crispy exterior coating that I was looking for and the salt and pepper flavor didn't shine. I also noticed this dish was piping hot and when eating deep fried foods after it cooled down, it doesn't taste good. House Special Noodles (4/5 In celebration of 2 birthdays, of course I had to order noodles for long life. I'm not a fan of e-mein so it was a no-brainer for me to get crispy noodles with assorted meats and veggies. This dish was also executed well but seasoned too heavy to my taste. I saw myself wanting the exterior areas with barely any gravy and wanted the crunch. Eggplant w/ Tofu (4.5/5 I was happily surprised the chef didn't use premade deep-fried tofu for this dish. Soft tofu was deep fried and then braised with a nice savory sauce with fried eggplant and wood ear fungus. Loved the rich and savory gravy. I would be a happy camper with this eggplant dish and a bowl of rice. However, once again the chef seasoned this a tad bit too heavy to my taste. Service was okay but could have been better. I noticed several of my dining mates drank all their iced water and the wait staff failed to replenish our glasses on their own. I witnessed a pair o
I just back into the US a few days before my first group meal and it was set at Eat on Time. The restaurant itself was easy to find as they are located in the same lot as Times on Beretania right before Safeway on the corner of Beretania and Piikoi. The private lot is shared with other establishments and Times but I was able to find parking right away when I arrived. When you enter, the restaurant is well lit with fun looking lights hanging from the ceiling that look like upside down artichokes. They have many tables and they can accomplish small, medium and large groups. Customer service was friendly but we had to ask them to refill water. The kitchen was quick to bring out our orders as the place wasn't super busy but timing of each dish coming out was perfect. Paul C ordered and boy, he ordered a feast. We had honey walnut shrimp (by far my favorite dish of the night...I'm surprised as I'm not the biggest fan of the dish), ong choy, fried calamari, sweet and sour pork/ribs, lamb with leeks, eggplant with fried tofu, cake noodles with just about everything as a topping and salt pepper chicken. The food was good! Since I never knew this Chinese restaurant existed, I wasn't sure what to expect but it exceeded my expectations on the food here. We were here to celebrate Nadine C's birthday but apparently we also celebrated mine too. I want to thank Paul C, Donna O, Craig T, Deborah P, Gabriel P, Allen N, Jules Y and Peter Y for an amazing dinner and for all the treats! Also, Happy Birthday to my Lunch Buddy! This was a great welcome back home and an amazing start to a milestone birthday. You guys are the best and 8 stars to each and everyone of you! 8 is a lucky number in Chinese culture and I chose this vs 10 for prosperity due to CNY
Eat on Time was great. The food was excellent. We were celebrating two birthdays. Fellow Yelpers Nadine C. And Daniel C.. My wife made a cake for the occasion upon entering the hostess and asked if the cake was for dessert. I said yes, and she took the cake to be brought out later. The painted murals on the walls made the restaurant look very festive. Attentive service and tasty food made our party one to remember. See my pictures of the food. I would like to give a shout-out to Paul C for his expertise in ordering the Chinese dishes. Mahalo to the cooks and servers for making this a memorable event. ENJOY.
