From the many emails with Amber Coulter, who helped ensure our stay was perfect, to the warm heartfelt Welcome at the beginning and Goodbye at the end of our stay from Miguel. Let me point out to you the Associates that stood out. Russel at the front desk greeted us with a great smile and made us feel at home, he answered any questions that we had and got us in our room quickly. I was not able to let Markell know how much the great customer service helped but I was able to speak with David and Patrick, you see we had never stayed at a resort like this and the customer care from these gentlemen helped calm our nerves. After we changed we had drinks in the lobby bar with Christa, I had my first Old fashion and The BEST Whiskey Sour ever !!! We then had dinner at Jefferson's Restaurant where our server Alex took great care of us and the food was amazing. We were able to let Holly know just how great Alex and the food was. Holly was a breath of fresh air, so very sweet. Day Two started beautifully after a delicious breakfast in the room, we rode the shuttle with driver Billy and our tour guide Brian to the Cascades Gorge Hike. If you get the chance to do this you want Brian as your guide. He knows so much and makes the trail so fun. I highly recommend him. After that adventure, we relaxed at the Warm Springs Pools where Lisa and everyone took such great care of us. We then had Lunch at Woody's where Ali Kucuk became part of our crew, He was a delight to talk with and joke around with. We also got to visit with Holly again because I wanted to let Ali's supervisor know just how great he and lunch were. I must add that for someone that seemed to be at the resort all the time Holly does great at staying upbeat and sweet. She also seemed to care about our feedback. The next adventure was The Sommelier Wine Tasting Series wine tasting with our Sommelier Quinh. It was my daughter and my first time doing a Wine Tasting and Quinh made it a great experience. Then on to the Paint and Sip, where once again we had a blast. Then we were off to dinner at the American Audubon Dining Room where we had an extraordinary meal and our server Fernando helped that with his care and concern. Sadly the next day we had to depart but not before an Excellent breakfast prepared by Roderick Ottie and Emerson and more great service by Karen and Jose. After getting full bellies we took a horseback ride saying bye to our adventure and basting in the beauty of the property. Thank you all it was a dream of mine to be able to do this.
Back in Time. This first class resort has everything you need to unplug from your busy lifestyle. The service is outstanding and the amenities are plentiful. The Resort is going through a 300Million dollar restoration. So be aware that some things might not be available. I could not stop saying It is so pretty everywhere you go at the resort. The attention to detail and service is amazing. We will hopefully visit again.
Lots of good stuff for our family of 9 6 adults, 3 kids : •Omni has completely revamped this old resort; it is once again a magnificent hotel; huge Omni investment •The food is great! Better than last year; big family dinner at Jefferson’s was just great; everyone was happy. Food at the pool was also excellent. Takeout food Martha’s Market has been completely redone for the better. •The water park remains the crown jewel for families. Our kids LOVED the place we all had a great time there. Some bad stuff: •Woody’s is closed for renovation except for takeout pizza . There is no place to go for a reasonably priced sit-down family meal. •Bring your wallet; everything is VERY expensive no surprise The disastrous: •The entire spa experience is just terrible, from scheduling to the actual spa experience. They will not call or email you to confirm appointments; most of the time they will not even answer the phone. My daughter checked in for her massage, but nobody ever showed up to take her back to the massage room. •The front desk back office systems are just unacceptably bad. We got the “Bed Breakfast Package”, but we got charged for breakfast anyway ; still haven’t gotten it straightened out. •Omni put “pending” charges on my AMEX that WAY exceed our legitimate charges, meaning that my AMEX is now near its limit. •Many/most of the front desk staff do not speak English, and I mean THEY DO NOT SPEAK ENGLISH; forget about resolving any billing issue with them; they are totally clueless. •The Omni website is totally worthless; your reservation details are almost certainly wrong; and forget about talking to anyone on the phone. Overall, we had a great time. Omni has really spruced up this old resort, but Omni has so much more to do to make your stay an “exceptional experience” their words .
The resort property is stunning: beautifully landscaped and maintained. The staff we met were universally exceptional. The activities were fantastic. Special thanks to Kenny and Brian for leading truly remarkable kayak and hiking tours through some of the most beautiful natural areas in Virginia. The food was a mixed bag: some excellent, some sub-par. But we discovered several good options out in the small town that is a short walk from the main hotel. We plan to return but will likely dine off-site more frequently.
My family and I went on vacation for the 4th of July. We left Pittsburgh and headed to Stonewall Resort in Roanoke WV. This place was pretty bad. The food wasn’t edible. The room’s filthy, moved to a different room, still dirty. We left a day early and headed to Omni Homestead as they said we could arrive a day early from our reservation. Walked inside and it’s a gorgeous building! Very friendly staff. We did have a small hiccup with our room. We arrived before it was ready so we were allowed to enjoy the beautiful pool and lazy river while we waited. My youngest (4years) was getting tired. So him and I walked the fairly long walk back Inside to get the room while my wife and oldest (10 years) stayed swimming. That’s when I met Zoe. She was very helpful through all of this. My first room had someone else’s luggage in it. So my son and I walked back down. Second room was a single king room, which with 4 people that wasn’t gonna work lol..I guess my wife had originally booked a single king since it was supposed to be a nice getaway for just us two. But the guilt set in and we brought the kids! So she called and switched it, but something got lost with that call and the reservation stayed a single king room… So Zoe not only found me my 3rd room, she made sure it was a Queen double and gave me an upgrade to a slightly larger room for my trouble and she was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Which went great. Food was very good. The breakfast buffet was so so, if it wasn’t for the omelette guy (Roderick Ottery I believe was his name) who saved the breakfast. He was a great, he interacted with my kids and showed them a few flare ups on the stovetop which they definitely enjoyed and he made a fantastic omelette. Just another very friendly staff member here and we hope to see him again. I would definitely recommend this place. The worst part was the 3 hour drive through back roads with no phone signal. But it was worth it. Thanks for the great couple days and we’ll be back!
