They have THE BEST DAMN MANGO MARGS!!! It goes down like a smoothie but sneaks up on you when you least expect it, I love their tortilla chips and green sauce. It's the best! The drinks have gotten even better, they make the most flavorful , the strawberry hibiscus swirl margarita will make you want to swing on somebody ?? SO GOOD
Talk about a place living off of a reputation, margaritas, decent (but REALLY expensive) fajitas, and a crowd of people who just like to say they went there. This used to be one of the standards for tex mex in town. Now it seems as though they are just focused on what can be an elaborate description on the menu and make for a good picture, no matter how the taste ends up. I ordered some chicken enchiladas that seemed to have 5 or 6 things on it. Sure it was plated well, but it just like what it was chicken in tortillas with a mixture of gloop on it and no discernible taste from any of it. My wife asked me how it tasted and all I could say was it tasted like a creamy gloop. $20+ for that isn't a good answer. Add in the chaos and harried service of the place, and I remember that there's plenty of others and better places to eat in Houston now.
I 've always passed by this hot spot and finally checked it out. Overall, it 's a good spot you should check it out, at least, once. Our server was on top of his game, or was he?lol en route to tables he dropped a thing or two. No entrees were harmed!lol He went above beyond for my buddy who apparently never experienced an enchilada I ordered a mix plate: ribs steak fajita w/ charro beans, and house corn tortillas. Buddy ordered fajita nachos. Also ordered the quest fondido. Overall, the food temp, presentation, and flavors were good. Not the case with the charro beans-they just didn 't hit like I was hoping they would. A friend refers to this spot as overpriced Mexican food. And I 'd say, it is a bit pricy there are several local spots around Houston, with great authentic Mexican food at a more reasonable price. App $12, mix plate $38, nachos $18*, one tea $3 one water: $81. I really only looked at the so, maybe i was charged something extra... Thankful for the gift card!!
Way, way past it's prime. They add milk powder to their flour tortillas so if you are lactose intolerant you can't even eat a very basic part of most Mexican food dishes. And the chips were fresh from the fryer but it seems like it was way past time to have changed or filtered the grease because the chips had this weird smell almost like fried pork. We each had a specialty margarita that finally came out just before our food. They were not very special.
