Still Life Cafe - Independence

To the wise words of Game of Thrones ' Syrio Forel, What do we tell the God of [Dinner]? Not today. Because this family-run paradigm of a French diocese has irregular hours, open when they say so, open because they have said that. It's so hard to do the trek from Torrance to Reno, and we were too early or too late every time we drive through Independence.

A touch of France. The Still Life Cafe is in independence, not Big Pine....and never opened in Bishop. We often try to organize our trips to Mammoth so we can stop at Still Life for dinner... we like it so much! You will enjoy your experience much more when you leave your HURRY at the door. The owner, she is the cook and he is the waiting staff and sommelier, transplanted into the Owens Valley from France, over LA, many years ago and they brought the French culinary setting! Relax and enjoy Milikas EXCELLENT FOOD with a bottle of wine that Michelle will recommend. Our personal favs are the fillet Mignon or spaghetti Bolognese, which has been placed on the menu due to the abundance of fresh cans tomatoes from their garden. They won't be disappointed.

On our trip out to South Lake Tahoe we bumped into this little place called still life seriously out in the middle of nowhere yet we were starving.

The atmosphere is great. Mom and daughter seem to be the entire crew. The dog "Carlos" is the best. The food was good but I would come back to visit Carlos.
