Beautiful historic building in a fantastic water-side location surrounded by trees within easy access of Inverness and the arterial routes through Scotland. Professional, friendly service throughout, good food and breakfast options. Dog friendly. Catering for individual diets. Good bar. Returned here several times and will do so again
However, I can't give it a full five stars due to the uncomfortable heat in our room. I understand that it is a historic property, which likely limits their cooling options. Still, I was taken aback by how hot it was during our stay, especially with the temperature being in the low 60s outside. We opened both windows and were provided with a small fan, but it took a full two days of running the fan before the room felt somewhat cooler. We struggled to sleep the first night because of the heat; it felt almost like being in an attic. I’m unsure if the lower-level rooms are any cooler, so if you plan on staying here, keep this in mind. Apart from the discomfort in our room, the other areas of the hotel—such as the restaurant, bar, and drawing room—were all pleasantly comfortable, making our overall experience enjoyable despite the room issue.
What a hidden treasure! This charming old hotel is set on stunning grounds. The staff was incredibly friendly and hospitable. Be sure not to miss the restaurant—the food was exceptional. I had the best eggs Benedict I've ever tasted here!
The location is fantastic, and the service is incredibly professional. The staff anticipates your needs and remembers your dietary requirements after just one mention. The restaurant is very clean while still maintaining the charming character of the building. My only minor critique is that the beds are a bit harder than what I prefer, but that's purely a matter of personal taste.
