The hosts Carol and Jules are some of the nicest people I’ve met and nothing was too much trouble for them. They even booked our evening meals and had loads of useful knowledge on where to eat plant based. Immaculate rooms, interesting books and magazines dotted around and huge, delicious, imaginative breakfasts with freshly squeezed orange juice and home made smoothies. It’s also wonderful to stay at a place with owners who really care about the environment and animal welfare, and it’s great to know that everything is 100% vegan. Who knew Arran would have such an ace plant based B&B? Really enjoyed our stay, best B&B we’ve ever stayed in, good work guys, lovely to meet you! Absolute breath of fresh air, would definitely go back. (Stephen and Deanna from Fort William)
We stayed at this bed and breakfast on September 20. I've been following a herbal diet since March, while my friend eats meat, but she was thrilled to be there after seeing photos of the breakfast! We both found the food and accommodations to be exceptional. Carol and Jules are wonderful hosts who made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. They also provided useful information about other dining options on the island. The location is fantastic, with views overlooking the sacred island. We would love to return. Arran is beautiful, but I believe Lamlash is the most stunning part of the island, and we highly recommend staying at Stonewater. There were other guests who didn't follow a plant-based diet, and they also raved about the food! It would be wonderful if they could start offering dinner in addition to breakfast. Until next time, Sebah and Sue.
We stayed here for two nights and were incredibly well taken care of. Carol and Jules are lovely and truly passionate about veganism, providing their guests with a wonderful experience. The breakfast is absolutely delicious, with generous portions, all cooked and presented with great care and attention. They also offer the option to prepare a lunch package for your island explorations, which is very fresh and tasty. Our room was beautiful, bright, and comfortable, equipped with all vegan toiletries. Stonewater House should definitely be a destination in its own right when visiting Arran!
We enjoyed a stunning view of the Holy Island from our window. The two-course breakfast menu was excellent, with plenty of options to choose from. The food was not only delicious but also healthy, and we certainly didn't leave hungry! There were also numerous tourist information materials available both in our room and on the ground floor, along with various reading materials and games. We arrived by bus, which conveniently stops right in front of the house. Lamlash is a charming little town with a few shops, water activities, and dining options, all without feeling overcrowded. Honestly, I can’t think of anything I would change; Stonewater House is wonderful! We've already booked for next year!
We enjoyed our short stay at Stonewaterhouse very much. Booking process was easy and great communication, including tips on how to get there as well as tips for places with vegan options on the island. Carol and Jules were great hosts, very welcoming and knowledgeable about where vegan options were available and happy to book a table for us. Note: it’s best to do that, possibly even in advance during high season as we left it too late on day of arrival and struggled to find something nice. Breakfast was fresh, healthy and plentiful. Various plant milks as well as gluten free breakfast options. Vegan toiletries, cleaning products etc. I hope to visit again sometime.
