Love this place! The guy that runs the store is always very nice and friendly.its very convenient and very close to San Marco Area!
The lady was working in the back of the store. I told her, I was just looking around. Not too much to see. I did find some bean biscuit treats(I don't know the name), some pan de coco rolls. I let her know I was ready to check out. She comes out and immediately told me to fix my mask and I did and then she tells me I have not spent over $10.00 to be able to use my card. This, to my knowledge is against the Visa Law, but I went ahead and bought another item. I told her, I did not know they were there and she told me that she had been there 25 years. Good to know.
One of my favorite places in Jacksonville. When my mom had an extended stay in the nearby Memorial Hospital, I went here pretty much every time I went to visit her. I 'd bring her kimchee and other spicy stuff which she really appreciated to balance out the otherwise good, yet tame hospital food. Their kimchee is very respectable. I like mine spicier but then again, I 'm hard-core. This is mainly an Asian grocer that could hold its own against any Asian grocery store in any major metropolitan center. The majority of its offerings fall into the Korean category due mostly to its owners ' ethnicity and in my book, that 's a GOOD thing! Korean food 's incredible! However, you 'll find myriads of different Asian delicacies here from canned and jarred stuff, to frozen goods, to Asian vegetables, to spices, cookware and even appliances. It 's not all strictly Korean. There is an abundance of Japanese, Thai, Chinese and other Asian goods to be bought which they stock in this wonderful grocery. I even found stuff for one of my favorites, takoyaki here! They had very good frozen takoyaki, Japanese Kewpie brand mayo, Bulldog brand takoyaki sauce and even a giant bag of dried bonito flakes! I bought them all and treated the rest of my family to a Japanese street food feast at home, thanks to these guys and the ingredients they supplied! The highlight of this place though, is their sit-down food corner. Korean Omas will cook up for you japchae, bulgogi, dduk and my personal favorite, their spicy seafood jiam bong (see pic). I think that these are the same exact ladies who cook for the wonderful restaurant, Gamnang, which is in the same strip mall. This place is a real feather in Jacksonville 's cap. I DO hope they stay open. Please patronize them with your business! I don 't want them to close like a bunch of other great places in Jax always seem to!
The japchae and kimchi at the restaurant inside were delicious! We made a shopping trip and found lots of goodies you cannot find elsewhere. We were so excited to explore the multitude of ramen selection and numerous snack selection. We will be back!
