Mels Country Cafe - Jefferson City

Pretty good for the price. Went here this morning for breakfast. My hubby loved the Belgian waffle and they scrambled my eggs just as ordered. The place was small the service was good. The prices for the food were also pretty great. We think you'll like it.

My wife ordered the Chicken Philly, but of course had to get the gluten free bead. It was way better than I thought it would be and she really enjoyed it. Mom had the breakfast bowl because she thought it would be smaller than the three egg omelette……she was wrong. She liked it but said the gravy is a little sweet , kind of like almond milk. I had the Chicken fried Chicken in place of the Chicken Fried Steak breakfast. It was pretty good. The services was really great. The staff was friendly and attentive. The price is very good for what you get!!!!

The place is great, the menu is great, but I have to agree with one of the reviews about the gravy. I’m sorry, I’m just not a fan. I would leave 5 stars with minus .5 for the gravy. I’ll be back for sure!!

We had a 20 minute wait to be seated, no big deal it was a Sunday and after church so they were really busy. Our 4yr old got a 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy and he's a picky eater. He ate all of it. Our older got I think it was a Cowboy platter and said it was really good. My husband had a Buffalo chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and I had the Buffalo chicken salad,both really good however we had to add the Buffalo sauce ourselves, I think the chicken would have been better tossed in the sauce. Our drinks were always refilled we never had to ask. Love a home-cooked meal kind of place.
