Rib tips are great. Meaty. Yum. Potato salad is also good. The baked beans are inedible- taste like beans directly from a can with zero seasoning. Collards are also bland. I'll try the other sides next time.
This hidden gem shack is situated on the corner across from New Seasons. Street parking only. Now onto the meat. Oh, the meat. My crew of three came here on a chilly Thursday just before closing at 6:30pm. We got the 3 beef combo and a pork sandwich from the very kind lady who took our order. After a 7min wait (MAD FAST! we were handed by the same masked and smiling person a bag of food. Smelled delicious, felt hefty. Bee lined back home to eat wish there was a park or something nearby to sit and grub. Be prepared to get it to go! The 3 meat came with ribs, brisket, sausage/onions, smoked pickles, BBQ sauce, a slice of wheat bread, and my side of choice (GREENS . The pork sandwich came pickles on top with a side of potato salad and BBQ sauce. Ribs: Smokey, meaty, rendered fat from a low and slow cook. Brisket: MEATY, tender, smoked throughout, delicious, encore worthy. Sausage onions: WHAT?! I'm not usually a sausage fan but the smokey flavor takes these sliced sausage pieces to a new level. Greens: Smoked greens was a little unexpected for my traditional green and pig tails heart. Not bad, but I would try another side next time. Pork sandwich: Pickles layered on top. Normally I'm not a pickle fan, BUT I AM TODAY. The thick pork is anything but pulled. When you bite into the meat it just melts despite being in big, bold, beautiful hunks. Get yo' sandwich on, Portland. Pickles: Smokey and slightly spicy. A crowd favorite. Potato salad: Good, meh. BBQ sauce: THICK, slightly sweet, mildly spicy, and just solid. No twinge of vinegar (thank dog . I sopped up the sausage smothered in BBQ sauce with the wheat bread. Bonus meal.
Be careful what you order. You may not get what you expect and for the price, you don't expect wieners, nor a server who lacks the courteous to offer a replacement.
Great food always and great service. The brisket and sausage is to die for. A little hard to get ahold of someone on the phone. Best to go in person.
