On the fifth day of my journey from Perth to Melbourne, I stayed at the Gateway Motor inn and decided to dine at the Highway Restaurant, which is located nearby. I typically do not order chicken, but I decided to try the Copper T Chicken, which consisted of breast and prawns in a tasty sauce with fantastic chips. The service provided by a woman named Sarah elevated the entire dining experience to a high level. Despite managing a substantial number of tables on her own, Sarah was exceptional and impressed me when I went to order a $4 bottle of water. Instead of allowing me to purchase it, she recommended a complimentary bottle of their fresh rainwater. The rainwater turned out to be delicious - I had not tasted fresh, slightly chilled rainwater like that since my childhood in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Overall, it was a great dining experience and I highly recommend it.
The restaurant has recently been renamed, but continues to deliver high-quality food. We began our meal with oysters - I had natural and my wife had Kilpatrick, both of which were excellent. The freshness and tastiness of the oysters were undeniable. For the main course, we enjoyed the "Copper T Chicken" and the Seafood Medley, both of which were very enjoyable and filling. We were so full that we didn't even have room for dessert.
Good food at good prices. Huge servings, friendly service. Atmosphere basic but adequate for a country town. Unexpectedly good for a town of this size. Reccomended.
