Feedback gevenFor Peruvian customers, it is important to note that it can be difficult to find a restaurant that replicates the exact taste of Peruvian food from back home, especially in a country with a small Peruvian community like Australia. Ingredients can be hard to source and expensive. However, despite these challenges, I believe you will still enjoy your dining experience here. While it may not be identical to home, some dishes come very close, which is impressive given the distance. Cholos surpasses the Peruvian restaurants I have visited in Barcelona, Sydney, Brisbane, and Kuala Lumpur. I highly recommend it.
I have no familiarity with Peruvian cuisine whatsoever, so when selecting the dishes I relied on the waiter who ably assisted. We picked two main courses and a side salad as it didn't look like there were a lot of vegetables in the mains. We also had two deserts. Perhaps its the cuisine rather than the cooking of it, but I wasn't too overly excited with it. The mains were too bland to my taste - and I found it odd that it was served with rice, and not even fresh rice at that. The desserts were something else - really intriguing but one was too sweet and the other too starchy. It was quite expensive for two people - not much change after $100 and that included a wine and beer. I liked the restaurant's decor and the menu did look authentic. The waiter was great.
I was very impressed. Good restaurant and atmosphere. Food is very different but great. Loved this and would return. Great food, lovely flavours, portions are large. Fantastic. Service was good too. Have never tried Peruvian food before and really quite enjoyed our night. A slight mix up with our order, but fixed very quickly. A good night out.
Genuinely good food! I enjoyed every bite, as did everyone in my party of three. Also enjoyed a couple of pisco sours. Tempted to come back on a Friday evening for happy hour $10 cocktails.Prices are reasonable, $10-15 for an entree $20-$30 for a main. Didn't make it to desert because I was so full, but there were some tempting looking options. The place might look a bit low brow, but the chairs a comfy, it is clean, and the food delish!
The waitress was friendly and helpful. We ordered the special the parillada. Oh my good ness it was wonderful!
