Ej's Urban Eatery - Kansas City

We have dined at EJs multiple times, and each experience has been marked by fantastic food and a comfortable atmosphere. Most recently, we hosted a wedding rehearsal dinner for around forty guests, and it was nothing short of amazing. John and Eric were incredible in planning the evening, providing their expertise in selecting dishes and presenting them beautifully for the event. Everything went smoothly. The food was exceptional, with each dish being a standout in its own right. We received numerous compliments from guests, many of whom were curious about how we discovered such a wonderful place. The staff was attentive and friendly, which contributed significantly to the success of the evening. Even the following day at the wedding, people were still raving about the incredible food at EJs rehearsal dinner. Whether for breakfast, lunch, or a special occasion, it would be difficult to find better food and service than at EJs Urban Eatery.

This restaurant is always one of our top choices. We really enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and the assurance that everything is incredibly fresh and sourced from local farms. The mac and cheese is delicious, and the squash casserole is simply out-of-this-world. We can't visit without ordering the shrimp and grits—the grits are incredibly creamy and delightful. The staff and bartenders are wonderful, and we appreciate the communal seating. I also make it a point to always save room for dessert. Definitely take the time to come here!

My husband and I visited this restaurant for Sunday brunch, and we absolutely loved it! This place is a must-try. The food was fantastic—I had the meatloaf sandwich and squash casserole, which were heavenly. The prices were very reasonable, and my husband's breakfast ribs were outstanding. A big thank you to the staff at EJ's for a wonderful brunch experience. Plus, it's conveniently located near KCK and downtown KCMO. We will definitely be back soon!

The food was delicious, Theresa our server was so attentive and sweet. Half of our group had breakfast, half had burgers which were fantastic. I cant wait to go back for the brisket. I believe this is a West Bottoms hidden gem.

Service was great very friendly and attentive. Food “slap your momma good”. Wife and I had the blackened catfish and brisket cheese sandwich. Both outstanding. As for sides the Mac and cheese, dirty rice, and fried green tomatoes were by far the best we have ever had. Huge let down when we got to the frys, I was expecting a wow factor but they were just frys. Lol. Still they were cooked perfect. Will eat there every chance we get. We are new to Missouri and can’t wait to take all of our visiting family and friends to EJ’s.
