Great service, friendly and welcoming staff, best coleslaw EVER, and the chicken and homemade ice cream are the proverbial icing on the cake!

Love the food very much, although we were astonished that the hostesses and many in the restaurant were not wearing masks during the pandemic. We hiked 30,000 feet above altitude in Colorado and everyone was wearing a mask around us. A little alarming to make this stop and realize we and only a handful of others were wearing masks (when not eating) as we entered and exited the restaurant. The baked cinnamon apples, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn and fried chicken were our favorites!

The people were so friendly, got to meet the chef. The chicken was fabulous and the fixings were spot on. It was my first time and I was not disappointed. It lived up to everything I heard about this old place. I loved it. Do yourself a favor and make the time to stop in.

Unfortunately, after 120 years, this single family owned business is closing for good. My family and I have enjoyed eating at the Brookfield Hotel many times over the past 50+ years celebrating birthdays and anniversaries, both at it original place in Brookfield, KS......and after it moved to Abilene, KS just off the interstate. Just wanted to say thank you for all the great meals, great environment, and warmth and kindness you showed everyone who walked through your doors.
