It was a beautiful spring day in Sonoma, Ca. and we decided to visit Chateau St John Vineyards and winery. The place is elegant and refreshing at the same time. The hosts are friendly and accommodating. We elected to have wine tasting and was seated in the outside patio with the gorgeous view of the rose garden. The wine selections are absolutely smooth and satisfying. Our host was fun and very knowledgeable. He made our experience quite wonderful. A must try if you're in the area definitely!
The stars are for the absolutely beautiful setting this winery has. Truly a wonderful setting. The lack of stars is because of the absolute lack of service. Yesterday we confirmed we didn't need reservations for tasting, and as members expected to not have a problem. Yet when we arrived and asked about tasting we were told we needed reservations and they would do what they could. We sat at a table waiting while the other three tables were given wine tastings. When I asked for the wifi password from a staff member I was told I would need to wait til our server came to help us. The problem is the server never came. We watched the one server stand waiting to help the three tasting parties they had total of less than 10 people we went inside where another staff member simply stood at the bar. No one helped us, we ended up leaving. After driving 30 minutes to get there what a huge disappointment. I would have completely understood if they were swamped but they were not. Even when we were greeted at the parking lot and asked if we had a reservation and said no they said no problem. This was not the case. Do not recommend.
Small but super cute. Picturesque. Insta worthy. Wine was okay. Overpriced and stuffy. Too many rules here.
One of the most beautiful sites for tasting. our host, Eric was phenomenal. He was fun but more importantly he was so educated and knowledgeable about the property history and the wine varietals. Definitely a must when visiting Sonoma.Thank you Eric for a great experience!Jane P
