Fort Henry is easy to find and get to. There is lots of parking and a reasonable walk to the gates. We were going to attend the Wednesday night Sunset Ceremony and decided to eat at the fort as the Fort Henry Bistro was in the fort info. The menu was limited and pricey but we were on holidays and were treating ourselves. We should have stayed downtown to eat at the many fine restaurants, but unfortunately we didn't. The seating staff person was good, but seated us, where we were later to find out, in a very inattentive waitress's area. Service from the start was slow all the way through the time we were there. It appeared that she was more concerned about other staff situations than handling her own. We should have realized that we were in the wrong area when the manager attended the table behind us to make apologies. We saw different partons come and go while we were still there. We finally got up to leave and I spoke with the seating person that we did not have our dessert as ordered nor bill as it was time to go to the Ceremony. She got the waitress who had our bill and boxed up the dessert and when I voiced my displeasure, she didn't care. On the plus side, the food was excellent. We both had garden salad, salmon steak which was delicious as well as the bed of rice it was upon. We would not recommend this restaurant and stay downtown to eat.
The tour was good. Got to learn quite a bit on how life was in the fort when it was operational. The parade, Canon fire etc very impressive.
Very disappointed with the Haunted Walk...they should advertise that individuals with a fear/phobia of spiders; and I mean big ones, should stay far far away from Fort Henry. The place is beyond infested...every doorway, the stadium seats, every fence had 2-3 webs...gross!The path to actually find the Haunted Walk start point is extremely hard to find! One small wooden sign and next to no lighting to find the entrance is absolutely ridiculous. Not recommended at all; complete waste of time and money!
We were a group of 8 people going to the Lumina Borealas at the fort. Adults and children all enjoyed the food especially the lamb shank. Service by Casper was great and he displayed patience when getting the kids orders. Although it is not the Ritz dinning room it was a neat experience for all and the setting makes the day.
