Review is based on many visits hereIt's become our go-to spot in Kingston for consistently tasty food at a good price with great service.
We stopped through Kingston on a Saturday night on the way home from a road trip.
I can only report on a lunch-time experience but based on that, and the menu, I would have to say there's another pretty good restaurant in Kingston that can rival the long-standing 'go-to' places farther down Princess Street. I was with a group of about 12 and we sat on the new patio which, like nearly all Princess Street eateries, is unfortunately squeezed between the store front and street, on the sidewalk. But it was a nice day and an enjoyable lunch. Naturally with 12 people there were a variety of dishes. I had the chicken wrap with house salad and, yes, you can get it just about anywhere but this particular wrap was put together with somewhat different ingredients and very tasty. Affordable at $12. No one was disappointed with their meal, in fact they were very happy. Prices were good and portions generous. I have to point out that the service was exceptional. Very attentive and spot on. So, based on what I experienced, dinner at Megalo's is certainly "on the table'. Ha!
We arrived famished to have Sunday brunch with my son as I was sending him off to university. Sitting having our coffee and we had given our selection to the waitress. We waited for over 35 minutes and nothing arrived so finally I went to the front and asked to pay for my coffee and advised them what I thought of the situation. Serving other people who arrived after us and got their meal and were already eating was unacceptable we noticed this and were appalled by this. The waitress reply to us was she cannot control the kitchen and it isn't her fault if our meal hasn't arrived yet?!! Really!! This is your answer to our frustration!? What if you said something like please sit down let me get you your food for you and I will promise I will get it out before the next five minutes. But no, her answer was poached eggs take a long time to cook, LOL I don't think so, poached eggs take a maximum of five minutes to cook! Also when someone asks you where do the Montreal bagels come from the answer to that question is NOT Montreal! Lol! It is either Saint Viateur bagels or Fairmount Bagels get your facts straight you work in that restaurant and you profess to feed your customers Montreal bagels you should know where they come from!
