Feedback gevenLate lunch on Saturday, 12 August 2017 on this beautiful patio. Our server was excellent. I had lamb (exceptional) and my cousins had scallops. The food was excellent. The view is spectacular. The service was stellar. Could not have been a more perfect afternoon. My one recommendation based on personal preference would be to offer an alternative to the barley/quinoa side ... possibly more salad or potato of same sort.
My kids and I ate at the Battery Bistro before heading to the Sunset Ceremony. I understand that they wanted to serve people quickly with a table d'hôtel but the food was terrible. My meal clattered with a salad that had been in salad dressing a little too long. I chose the stuffed pork which was very dry; it came with a nice stuffing & brown gravy. Unfortunately, it also came with a chili rice that had kidney beans, peas and corn in it. This rice was sweet and spicy and not edible. It also did not go with the pork at all. The meal ended with stale strawberry shortcake. Our server was excellent but another one kept running through the restaurant which was very unnerving and ruined the "bistro" atmosphere. I had to go outside the restaurant to go to the washroom. This was a thoroughly terrible experience and put a damper on our trip to Kingston.
Our server Nicole was excellent! Great place to stop. Beautiful views and great service! Loved The Caesar, beers and apps.
The fort is easy to get to and there is ample parking. The food that we had was very good but the waitress was inattentive and was more interested in talking and "helping" other staff than looking after her tables, which I think she only had three. Each table including ours had problems with order taking and timely delivery. The Manager had to attend one table to talk to patrons to apologize for something the waitress had done. The other table and us got up to leave as we both were not getting our dessert and bill. Each of us were attending the Sunset Ceremony and it was to start very soon. She begrudgingly got our items, boxed dessert and bill which we requested from the seating person who found our disappearing waitress. Would not recommend this place. Stay downtown and dine at one of the fine dining establishments, which is what we should have done.
Before going any further, this is NOT a black mark against Fort Henry! Saturday night, a friend and I had tickets for the Military Tattoo at the Fort (which was fantastic) so decided to make a real night of it by having dinner at the Battery Bistro. After looking at the menu on my computer, which by the way I thought was abit pricey for what they were offering, I make a reservation as I knew it would be busy. We had a wonderful table overlooking the bay and then BAM to our surprise was informed it was a 3 course Prix Fixe for $40.00 per person.Needless to say, we were upset as I had NOT been advised when I made the reservation! Our waitress was wonderful and most apologetic and actually worked out a deal for us. This meal which consisted of a few mixed greens, croutons and a minimal amount of a citrus dressing, a filet of salmon on a mound of Spanish rice (for want of another description), and for dessert, strawberry shortcake complete with the green leaves still attached! NEVER, EVER WILL I GO BACK AND WILL ENCOURAGE ALL OF MY FRIENDS TO AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE !! NOT WORTH even what we ended up paying w
