I would travel the world to try this menu. beautifully done. all small details and large service. the place is located on a quiet road, away from the tourist floods. fit the small doorway they are welcomed by a beautiful Japanese garden, the choice of western style or traditional Japanese seating. there is only one cure menu, started with various small straightened, (big soft boiled egg) something to nibble up while waiting to cook on the tofu pot. then comes the tempoura (all veggie) and rice and some pickel. finally a little sweet tofu with a drop jam. make sure to try her at home to save her. overall highly recommended!
That is a tofu ryouri restaurant! it is so easy a meal and very fine and tasty. great experience and atmosphere too. it is not all vegetarian. we sat at the counter, which feels like a museum. there is a building on the back with tatami rooms also. and with beautiful weather they open the wing doors and all the exterior are also available. •̀ᴗ̀ᴗو و
We were a night in arashiyama and it's not easy to find dinner places. Finally we go to this amazing restaurant of Google search. they offer a single menu, but it tastes better than the tofu course I had in kyoto. service is great, employees can speak English. and the view of the garden is amazing! my mother enjoyed a lot. the entree onsen egg, tempura and of course the different tofu kitchens all taste great. the set costs us 3800 yen and a warm sake in 700 yen. would definitely recommend friends!
This was one of the best experiences I had in Kyoto. We started the day dressing in traditional clothing (Yukata and Kimono) and walked around Tenryu-ji and Arashiyama bamboo forest. Keeping with the spirit, I wanted to have a traditional dining experience. Thankfully I found Yudofu Sagano while wandering the neighborhood. As you enter the restaurant the friendly host will give you the option of either dining on tables or tatami; I highly recommend the tatami experience. You will be escorted through the garden and into a tatami mat room overlooking it. This restaurant offers a tofu kaiseki course including boiled tofu in kombu, tempura, and various tofu based side dishes. The taste of each dish was both delicate but intricate. For example the boiled tofu dish came with a ponzu dipping sauce to dip in adding both a nice citrus bite and helping cool down the tofu. The soft boiled egg in soy sauce was really delicate but creamy and perfectly cooked. The quantity and pacing of the meal was perfect for a mid afternoon lunch after exploring the area. I would definitely come back!
