So, we gave it another shot and we are happy to say we will not wait another decade to go back. It is nicely located in Yonge-Steeles area. We got a set meal which consisted of 3 dishes good for 3-4 people. Seemed like a good deal for us although we should not have second-guessed it. We got an order of boiled dumplings on top of this so we ended up having left over—with DD#2 and grandma not being big eaters. Anyway, our set meal had Tang Su Yuk—sweet and sour pork. Deliciously crispy (albeit on the thick side) breading with a nice, light sweet and sour sauce. Kam Pung Shrimp—stir fried shrimp, this time with a heavier sweet, sour and a tad spicy sauce. The shrimp were big and lightly coated with breading. And Ja Jang Myeon—our family favourite black bean noodle. Their noodles were nicely done and the sauce was seafood (not just gound beef). The servings were family size and the dishes were pretty good. Service was okay. Our little room did not have any “ringers” to call the server so we had to pop out a couple of times to ask for something. Overall, service was friendly and the price was good value
This place used to be really good, but has definitely gone down the drain. Their kitchen is really slow at times. I hate when I order take out and they don't start it until I arrive, because they want it to be fresh. It makes no sense whatsoever because the whole reason people order take out is to have it ready for a certain time and eat it elsewhere. Also, their deep fried shrimp is over $30 and the last time we ordered it they had already precooked the shrimp and then battered it up again and fried it. It came out stale and just totally gross. After that last straw we never returned. The old chef from there works at song cook at the plaza next door. The food there is even better and they have way more side dishes and variety.
Iryewon Asian Fusion Restaurant Man Ri Jang Sung) was recommended by none other than Justine @foodigatorJ aka my go to anything Korean bestie) when asked for a place for Spicy Korean Seafood Noodle. This place is known for their Korean Chinese style food! We arrive at around 1:00pm on a Sunday and the place was packed, we had to wait in line but fortunately it's pretty quick. We were seated within 15 mins. They have a bunch of combos available but it was only in Korean, so no idea what kind of deal they have but the rest is in both Korean and English.Side Dishes : Kimchi, Raw Onions, Black Bean Sauce Pickled RaddishKam Pung Ki $16.99 Small) Sweet Spicy Chicken Love this, perfect sticky sauce and mostly brown chicken meat white meat tends to me too dry) This is pretty mild, so wished it was slightly spicier. Need to come back for dinner and get this with soju or makkoli. This also comes in Large for $26.99 which is huge when I saw another table ordering it.Ja Jang Myum $6.99 Veggie, beef and black bean sauce noodle Rather mild which I love no msg or overly salty) with just the right chewy noodle but though the sauce was a tad runny since it didn't cling to the noodle very well which less us with a lot of it at the end after finishing the noodles. Sam Sun Cham Pong $10.99 Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup w/ extra seafood The regular one is only $8.99, I really don't find there's much seafood but mostly veggies so I would say we could have save that extra $2. This is probably their signature dish since everyone was ordering this and it was on a poster. Love the flavorful seafood soup which was not the slightest bit salty, the healthy non-msg version of a Spicy Instant Noodle Same king of noodle as the black bean which I like, would be great if there's more al-dente options as well something more ramen or instant noodle like).Verdict: Loved it, although the selections are limited. Would definitely come back especially to try the Sweet Sour Pork which I saw a lot of people ordering and look super yummy.
The fried chicken has a great crispy texture.
