Excellent food! And home made desserts are awe-some!! The chocolate mousse and the biscuit-with-cream-mousse on their own were worth coming! The atmosphere is very very welcoming. The owner is extremely hospitable and generous, and helped us celebrate our son's 4th birthday. A great experience!
We were staying at a hotel nearby and during our stay went here twice. Both times really good food and drink. Be prepared to not have a menu and have dishes of the day which we prefered. Food cooked on the bbq outside. Owner and family/ friends very friendly and despite us not speaking Portuguese we could get by (shame on us for not learning some before we visited, will do next time). Last night we had cuttlefish and lamb as our mains, delicious. We would highly recommend this place for a taste of traditional Portugal
We were staying close by and tried this gem of a restaurant on Sunday afternoon. As some of other reviews have stated we were greeted by the very friendly owner who welcomed us and our 10 month old Son at this very family friendly restaurant. They were cooking from the BBQ on this day and the owner came round with a selection of fish we could have cooked (to perfection My wife and I choose one each and they were cooked by the excellent chef (Josè While we were waiting for our fish we were served some very freshly cooked bread which came with some lovely local cheese Its important for us that a restaurant is family friendly and in pleased to say this place was great. All the staff were so attentive to our needs as a family. Like others she said, we didn't see a menu or prices but I'm sure we saw one near the entrance if you want to choose something instead of the chefs recommendation. I'm pleased to say our meals were delicious and served with a fresh salad and potatoes. Dessert was a lovely homemade chocolate and the house white wine was very drinkable and good value too. We didnt know how much it would be but we were pleasantly surprised that all this came to just over €40 for the 2 of us. It was one of the meal highlights of our holiday and I can really recommend Vinha Da Rocha! The owners English was limited (but much better than my Portuguese! and we got by with a lot of hand gestures. Cant wait to return! Looking forward to returning again soon!
A great find and a welcome addition to our must go too restaurant list. Very friendly staff lovely food nice wine very much looking forward to our next visit in june
Called in here on our first night as it was close to our accommodation. The owner and family were having there own meal but got up to see to us. We told them to carry on with their meal first but they wouldn't hear of it. The owner let me try some of his jug of sangria blanco, which was lovely so we ordered one. His English was limited but better than my Portuguese. We didn't get menu's, we ate old style where he told us what he had cooking, I had the braised steak in onions and peppers, my daughter had grilled chicken and my mum had a shredded cod with noodles style dish, then homemade puddings included a vermicelli style creme caramel, homemade chocolate mousse and homemade honey sponge cake. All delicious. Less than €80 for 3 courses with drinks for four people. Great value and lovely ambience, not sure many tourists go in but I would definitely recommend.
