It's a long street with guesthouses that are not very clean and expensive for what they offer. We chose Pakbeng Guesthouse because of its proximity to the pier, and since we were only staying for one night, we focused more on that detail than others. The restaurant, with dubious cleanliness, had poor service and the food was disappointing, turning out to be more expensive than expected.
Visiting Pakbeng may not be on top of the list if it weren't a necessary stop for travelers heading to Luang Prabang by boat. The town is lined with unclean guesthouses and unimpressive eateries. We decided to stay at a guesthouse in Pakbeng due to its convenient location near the boat dock, prioritizing proximity over other factors for our one-night stay. Unfortunately, the restaurant we dined at was subpar, with slow service and overpriced, unsatisfactory food.
