Umami - Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

Umami is located at the top (terrace level) of the Las Arenas shopping centre in central Las Palmas. It can get busy on weekends, but if you come here during weekdays you'll find it fairly quiet and nice. It's an all you can eat buffet with a HUGE difference to most other buffets: a lot of the food is prepared AFTER you order. None of that boring buffet style food where everything is premade and been kept warm for hours.. Umami makes the food as you order. And the food is GOOD. Service is fast and friendly. Regardless if you want to take a break from all the spanish food, if you love Sushi or if you simply want to binge eat on asian food Umami got you covered. Enjoy Umami!

Please note: Umami is found on the Terrace level of Las Arenas mall at the bottom end of Canteras opposite the arena. I live just outside Las Palmas and have now visited Umami 4 times. It is an interesting 'All you can eat ' Buffet concept and this is part of what makes it great. Rather than having an array of food left out on a buffet table slowly cooling and coagulating under hot lamps, at Umami you are given a menu (60+ items) and a place mat with space to write and you order whatever tickles your fancy from the menu ... and you can order as much and as often as you like! So the food is freshly prepared to order and minor modifications can be made to the dishes. The food arrives hot, fresh and tasty. Plus, there is a small buffet table with fresh sushi and (limited) deserts inside too. All of this for 11.95 EUR per adult. Each time we have been there we have also taken my little girl who eats like a horse! She is given a highchair, her own plate and her own cup and they modify the dishes for us to reduce salt etc whenever they can... and the staff smile and wave and talk to her as they pass. She loves it. Quick tip: The mall gets crazy busy at the weekends from October onwards when a cruise ship is in. I 'd recommend going on a weekday if you have the choice.

I've come a couple times with my partner. The deal with the girl who treated us is excellent. and the food we don't talk spectacular. I'll definitely come back every time I can.

After a long time we have returned (concluding the Covid-19) and it has been a pleasure, where we had been several times. and the return has been very positive, excellent and very attentive. He's got a lot of us and of course we'll be back.
