Blue Skillet - Lexington

??This place ?? We were staying nearby on our way through town and stopped here for take out. Chef Robert treated us like family, we really enjoyed our conversation and the community atmosphere he curated. Such good people. THE FOOD! The ?? food ??. Get ALL the things, leave a big tip and walk away feeling happy. We liked everything and there wasn’t a spec left on our plates.

Excellent catfish, bbq chicken, greens, Mac and cheese, masked potatoes and corn bread. I can’t choose a favorite because they were all consistently delicious. Chef Robert is also a wonderfully kind spirit and treats his patrons like family. Go enjoy this fine establishment. You will not be disappointed!

Ginny Virginia Arnett and I continued on our quest for good home country cooking and we hit the mother lode! YOU MUST TRY THE BLUE SKILLET if you like home cooking soul food. Ginny had salmon croquettes with cabbage which was “more flavorful than my mom’s” who was a great cook. She felt bad about admitting this but it was the truth. I had lamb chops with a citrus glaze which were incredibly good. I also had nice baked beans and pan fried cornbread. Even my lemonade tasted good. The place is fairly small but the owner/chef (Robert) couldn’t have been more friendly. He was informative and interesting to talk to. His daughter provided the timely and pleasant service. The atmosphere is simple but feels cozy. This was one of my favorite places to eat this year. Needless to say we will be back. ???

I can’t say enough good things about this place. My wife and I were passing through Lexington KY en route to North Carolina and wanted good food close by. Not only do Chef Robert and his staff go out of their way to treat you like family but the FOOD was absolutely top notch! The fried catfish, salmon croquettes, bbq chicken, mac and cheese, greens, and cornbread were all out of this world. I’m sad we are not visiting for longer than a day but next time we’re in the area we’re coming right back. Blue Skillet big thumbs up and keep doing everything you’re doing! ? ? ?

Fabulous place! Super kind and friendly staff, great home cooked food. I see why they have such great reviews! Also, whatever the delicious cornmeal pancake thing is they serve with meals is divine. Would come back to visit just for this place!!
